I don't have one either if that makes you feel better! I have no idea how many my local store got in stock, but I'm sure they were gone very quickly based on the pressing size alone. I was going to go until I saw the price lists, £52 for a Notorious BIG record? Sure I wanted it, but gently caress that.

People need to stop talking about that new Pertubator, but only because its in a pretty limited quantity and I want to make sure I get one. Although the US allocation is separate from ROW, so Americans go wild.

This isn't new retro wave, but actual retro - probably one of the most 80's 80ish anime I've seen. Looks like some of the people who went to work on Akira contributed to it too, and you can see in some of the animation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xTks9BNbTc There's also lots of easter eggs throughout this to the Rankin Bass American-conceived Japanese-animated shows that some of the animators here likely worked on - the first frame of the film shows the side of a Silverhawks-looking pinball machine, and later there's a Thundercats pinball. The plot is similar to The Matrix - a simulated fake city and some cyberpunk misfits who find out the truth. (Also: Fairly incomprehensible.) PS - turn on captions for subtitles. I'm bumping this because Carpenter Brut owns and he posted this to youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnC4STo6BfY EP III is on the way. He also did a collaboration with perturbator which I think is also good, and coincidentally got me into perturbator. I'm just finding this genre and I'm really digging the darker stuff. https://soundcloud.com/perturbator/perturbator-complete-domination-feat-carpenter-brut?in=perturbator/sets/perturbator-dangerous-days Anyway everyone should listen to carpenter brut if you like beep boop music.

The Hotline Miami 2 trailer had me listening to Carpenter Brut again; Escape from Midwich Valley is amazing. Dangerous Days also knocks it out the park, it's cool to see Perturbator getting exposure and praise for it.

Got my cd copy of Dangerous Days week ago, sweet release. Too bad I missed the limited edition Carpenter Brut is the definite poo poo, waiting for ep3 And speaking of eps, did Power Glove ever said anything about potential new release? There were some single tracks done and released on YT, but no word about ep #2.

Yeah Carpenter is probably my favourite, his stuff is so layered and lush. Looking forward to being home and listening to that EP 3 preview. I also have his T-Shirt which is metal as gently caress. My club night is happening on 18th August, headlined by Adeyhawke who is awesome. Planning on live streaming it for the rest of the world who can't make it to Wales on a whim.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but Unit Black Flight is a pretty great project, even more carpenter-ish than others, in a minimal dark analog way. Where can I find poo poo that sounds like this that came from the actual 80s and not this retrospective idealized fantasy 80s
|
# ? Jul 13, 2014 06:37 |
I don't think you'll find that. Most of this music exists because it is able to look back to the entirety of the 80s and is an amalgamation of it. That aside the closest ancestor to a lot of this is New Wave. Flock Of Seagulls and that poo poo you've heard a million times and is undoubtedly what you probably think of when you hear '80s music'. That's just what i've found, someone cool can shoot me down but someone like Carpenter Brut probably couldn't exist in 1987
