Here's a track by the artist Wise Blood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUcIj69zoSA. I have mixed opinions of his album. Some of it's pretty lame and sounds like something from a boring white rapper, other tracks are bogged down by some really unpleasant beats. I guess if you like Alarm I'd say check out his other stuff, but I haven't been impressed by it on the same level as this single song.
Ugh. He either needs to stick to producing, or his producer needs to find someone more deserving.

I've posted them in this thread before but Royal Canoe just released a new video for their song 'Button Fumbla' and a really good friend of mine is in it (one of the backup singers). Plus they're touring North America with Bombay Bicycle Club this spring so everyone should check them out. It's a live video so it gives a little preview (they're really good live) http://www.popmatters.com/post/180868-royal-canoe-button-fumbla-live-video-premiere/

Also A Tribe Called Red play a really cool mix of electronic and traditional pow wow music. Their new album Nation II Nation is amazing. Somebody stitched one of their songs together with some footage from the Idle No More protests. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHiE8Zc7er8

They also just released their first video for 'Sisters'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbrvwaVXJ48

One more for good measure. My favorite song off Nation II Nation: Different Heroes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNPohk48XbE

You couldn't grok my race car, but you dug the roadside blur.
Went to see Waxahatchee tonight. They were opening for Title Fight, whoever that is.

gently caress me they overpowered that venue with the volume. It should not be pain inducing even all the way in the back. I ordered some musicians earplugs but they arrived too late, and forgot my foamies at work. There really needs to be something done about Tom, Dick and Harry venue killing everyone's hearing for no good reason. Any music to be had is really drowned out, like a burrito you put way too much chile on. If I wanted to go see a shoegaze band, I'd go see one.

As far as the show went, I liked their set. The group however performs as a rock group live now. I feel this is big departure from the more intimate and calmer folksy songs of American Weekend and some of Cerulean Salt. I don't love Be Good because it's a slow rock ballad, because before now it wasn't. It was a jaunty little tune on an acoustic guitar in recorded in her parent's house.

So I had a small part in a music video for the song 'A Burial' by Eternal Summers, and it premiered on NPR music yesterday! I hadn't even heard the song before the shoot, but I was really surprised how much I like the band.

Thanks for sharing that video, beneatsfood! You look super cool and awesome and I'm glad I got to watch that!

There is another music-related NPR video that I absolutely adore and would like to share with the posters on these forums. So the video is a live recording of the Olivia Tremor Control concert that took place in New York in September of 2011. And I really love this video because I was at this concert and I met Yoko Ono at the concert and got to have a conversation with her!

And, in the video, you can loving see me standing next to Yoko Ono, front-and-center in the audience while the Olivia Tremor Control are playing on stage! There's a really good prolonged shot of me totally flipping out next to Yoko Ono from around the 1:30 (one minute, thirty seconds) mark to around the 2:00 (two minutes) mark. I think I'm fairly easy to spot in the video during that timeframe. I'm a pretty skinny white guy with dark hair and I'm wearing a zipped-up-zipper-hoodie in the video. During that 1:30-2:00 30-second timeframe, you can see me clasping my hands together, outstretching my arms, jumping up and down, excitedly running in place, and basically having a total mental orgasm and experiencing one of the most euphoric moments of my life. Yoko Ono is somewhat shorter than me, and you can see her wearing an orange headband and excitedly dancing next to me in the video during that 1:30-2:00 timeframe.

Also, I had a mustache at that time, and you can briefly see my mustache when I turn my head toward the camera shortly after the 1:50 (one minute, fifty seconds) mark. This video is super high-quality and is 90 minutes long and I'm so glad that NPR recorded this concert! Here is the video: http://www.npr.org/event/music/140533815/live-wednesday-the-olivia-tremor-control-in-concert

I was tripping on 30+ mg of 4-AcO-DMT at this show, and it was undoubtedly one of the most blissful experiences of my life. The Olivia Tremor Control have made some really splendiferously superb music, and I am very glad that I was able to see them live in concert before the death of Bill Doss.

Thanks for reading this post!

Edit: Uh, on closer inspection, it looks like my zipper hoodie may actually have been unzipped. Oh well, that was such a great experience and I'm so glad this recording is available!

I've always had mixed feelings about Owen Pallett (Arcade Fire's string guy; used to do solo stuff under the moniker Final Fantasy — may well be stating the obvious here), but one of the singles off his new LP, In Conflict (out May 13 in North America) is unlike anything he's done before — kind of reminds me of Shearwater.

New Antlers LP, Familiars, out in June.

First track: "Palace"

This leaked recently and I really enjoy it. Especially the songs Hotel, Intruders and Parade. I know a lot of people consider Hospice their opus but I have equal love for Burst Apart, the Undersea EP and now this new LP (which is definitely more like those two than Hospice or anything before it).

The Burst Apart songs really came to life for me when I saw them live. Familiars, like the Undersea EP, hit me right away. Love the nautical theme...Drift Dive to me is a great spring/summer song.

Peter has a great voice but I can't stress how great Darby is at all the instruments he plays. He's the band's Jonny Greenwood, if that makes sense.

You can stream the title track here: https://soundcloud.com/anticon/baths-ocean-death/

It's pretty dark and minimal, to the point where it almost sounds like another artist remixing one of his earlier songs and making it sound completely different than the original.

Just got back from Trust's show and holy poo poo they're good. I don't remember them being mentioned yet in this thread, so here goes:

Trust is a Canadian synthpop band that has 2 albums out, TRST and Joyland. The lead singer has an absurdly versatile voice that really has to be heard to be appreciated.

My favorite song off their first album, and probably just favorite song of their's in general is Bulbform: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pqgv65j3uBo

My favorite song off their new album (which is a little lighter [I'm not good at finding words to describe music]) is Joyland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJO54bdmUCY

Also, to reiterate, their live show is so loving good holy poo poo, see them if they come through your area.

Last off, one of their openers was Mozart's Sister, a girl-pop duo that was pretty good too (the other opener's lead singer wore a fedora and um wasn't my favorite). One of their songs is on their bandcamp (which isn't my favorite of the songs they played, but hey) and I think it's worth checking out: http://mozartssister.bandcamp.com/

Not at all, Shields is a fine album. I personally don't think it's as strong a cohesive work as Veckatimest, but any album with "Gun-Shy" and "Speak in Rounds" on it is certainly worth falling in love with.

Anyone remember 2009 when Veckatimest and Animal Collective's MPP were constantly being pitted against each other by music journalists?
