Other people can get hooked up with it too, if my drift is being catched.

It owns by the way. Sounds nothing like a band that hasn't released anything in 15 years.

Oooh, new Yob song! Perfect timing, as I just got my Unreal Never Lived Live at Roadburn 2012 vinyl and have the Catharsis remaster LP coming on Wednesday. Also put in an order for the Great Cessation repressing for whenever that comes out. God I love that band, still pissed they only did like one show with Bongripper.

Their sound is pretty distinctive, at least to me. Probably tough to match perfectly. Maybe the likes of Karma to Burn, Truckfighters, Samsara Blues Experiment? Kyuss and Earthless for instrumental stuff in general, although Earthless is much more straightforward psychedelic rock.

Orchid, if you don't mind pure old-fashioned Sabbath worship. But I'm on an Orchid kick, so that's my go-to suggestion for everything.

Saw Down in Austin last weekend and it was probably the worst concert I've seen them put on. Hell, one of the worst this year period. A messy sound mix, killed any the momentum they had with a lousy performance of Conjure, Phil couldn't sing worth poo poo or remember the people who opened for them...

I'm not saying it to be a jackass -- they were my gateway into the genre so it's a genuine bummer. I saw them reform in 2002 (or 3?) and every show I've caught since has been sloppier and sloppier. Or I simply became a greybeard, that's possible too.

New Earth LP in September :worship:

quote:

With Primitive And Deadly, EARTH's tenth studio collection, Carlson and long term cohort, drummer Adrienne Davies, manage to pull off the trick of completing an Ouroborean creative cycle, twenty-five years in the making, whilst exploring new directions in their music. For the first time in their diverse second act, they allow themselves to be a rock band, freed of adornment and embellishment. As much as Carlson's guitar has always been the focal point of EARTH's music, it's been surrounded by consistently diverse instrumentation. Here the dialog between Carlson and Davies drumming remains pivotal, underpinned by the sympathetic bass of Bill Herzog (Sunn O))), Joel RL Phelps, Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter) and thickened by additional layers of guitar from Brett Netson (Built To Spill, Caustic Resin) and Jodie Cox (Narrows). Perhaps the largest left turn on Primitive And Deadly, though, is prominence of guest vocalists Mark Lanegan and Rabia Shaheen Qazi (Rose Windows) who transform the traditionally free ranging meditations of EARTH into something approaching traditional pop structures.

Wow, that sounds intriguing. I think it's the right time for them to change things up from their established sound since Bees Made Honey, I can't wait. September, though... gonna have to be patient. At least we'll get Bongripper before then, that split with Conan was magical.

To be honest, I'd listen to Earth do practically anything at this stage, even if it's just the same thing over and over again. They've honed their music to such a level that it's amazing. Saw them live twice, once for Bees Made Honey and then for Angels of Darkness and both times they were mind-blowing. Definitely one of the genre's legends.

(But yeah, a new direction will no doubt be interesting)

Last time I saw Yob they had Dark Castle's drummer and it was super dope. If they have a new album coming out and are going to tour soon I am going to be so loving hyped, the venue they played here has closed down but they are so good I'd travel to see them if they play nearby in a place like Austin.

I really want to see a good Drone set played live for once, something like Black Boned Angel or stuff off of Altar w/ Sunn0))) anyone know of some bands still doing that or planning to soon?
