Why don't you perform zazen, facing a wall?

Bertrand Hustle posted:

People who say "gently caress Jesus" aren't saying "gently caress Jesus 'cause he's a Jew", they're saying "gently caress Jesus" because it pisses off Christians (or they think it does).

There's a difference between saying things about a religious figure who may or may not have actually existed, in the context of verbally trashing that religion, and calling for the extermination of an entire race. A huge difference.

And it's one thing if they keep their opinions to themselves and it doesn't come out in their music, but even then, some people have a problem enjoying the work of an artist who they know to be a piece of poo poo. I can listen to music by somebody who is an rear end in a top hat, but I draw the line at Nazi. It's one thing to be a former Nazi, or commit a crime and later reform, but somebody who is actively a fascist shithead deserves no respect or support.

I'm sorry that you feel morally tainted by listening to music made by assholes, but why do you give a poo poo when other people don't?

Ghaaa shut up, this is the worst argument

Here's the new single from 1349. I saw them in Philly a few weeks ago and they were pretty boring, even from the front row. On the plus side, their bassist made hilarious frowny faces and their drummer was the anti-black metal drummer in maroon jorts and Chucks.

According to the comments, it was an April Fool's joke from Xanthochroid or something. And googling "Bipartisan Apostasy prank" gets you this on the Empyrean Throne facebook: "Xanthochroid finally came out that Bipartisan Apostasy was a fake Dimmu song created by the Xantho-dudes".

Supposedly Silenoz acknowledged it somewhere.

I'm really digging Nokturnal Mortum's Voice of Steel right now (no, this is not meant to open an NSBM can of worms). Normally I don't enjoy folk elements in my metal, but the use of violin and such is very effective on this album. Any recommendations for something similar?

I don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for, but Trist is one of the best DSBM bands I've heard lately:

Trist is hypnotic and extremely captivating. You could also look into Hypothermia, Life Is Pain (collaboration between the guys behind Hypothermia and Trist. Awful name but they released a great demo), Abyssic Hate, Silencer, Thy Light, Nyktalgia, Sterbend, Forgotten Tomb, Austere, Make A Change... Kill Yourself, Selvhat, Gris, Klage, Bethlehem, Kargvint, Wigrid, Krohm, and of course Strid.

Some samples:

There is a lot of really terrible bands in the depressive vein, so stay away from poo poo like Nocturnal Depression, I'm In A Coffin, and Happy Days.

Alrakis is amazing.

Also, Animus's "Poems for the Aching, Swords for the Infuriated" is one of my favorite albums in general, but it's very repetitive and not at all conventional black metal. If you're curious, read Noktorn's review of it on metal-archives. I wouldn't recommend it if you're not into that sort of thing, though.

While Bölzer absolutely crushes and I would be stoked for a full length, I realllly appreciate shorter releases. No matter how good a band is, very few full lengths keep an intensity through the whole thing. For me Reign in Blood is the gold standard. Takes balls to make a longer album that that.

Yeah I agree. I'm excited to see what Bolzer do with a full length though because they're one of the more interesting DM bands at the moment. However, some other bands, I wish they'd stick to the EP format.
