Without much in the way of talking, Lerissa darts forward and quickly begins to open up on Willard. She hacks away at the vines with a clean blow.

Didn't you mean to ask about flowers?
(Sully, William and Victe are up!)

(Lerissa, you forgot to Save! Here you go, the Poison fades.)

"GWOOOOOORRRRRR!" Willard's skin suddenly doubles up with mossy overgrowth as he becomes Really Tuff, gaining DR 3! He then lashes down at William with his arms, the telegraphed movements of the giant ponderous tree easy to evade! He glowers and contents himself to stomp the ground as hard as he can, sending painful shocks up Victe's legs. They make her bones ache for 6 Thundering Damage.

Sariya's acid continues to sizzle across the two. Willard's grit falters beneath the divine light William has struck him with as he barely fails his Save against the ongoing damage. Anden winces on impact and is frowning now but still watching the fight unfold calmly.

Sully

With a snort, Sully stares hate at the treant. "No, first I'm gonna SQUISH that awkward poo poo you call a friend IN FRONT OF YOU, and then smash your GODDAMN BARK IN until YOU decide to be less of a poo poo BROTHER and VISIT YOUR GODDAMN SISTER!" Rushing forward Sully clearly leaps over the massive trunk-like arm as it tries to sweep him away, landing next to the spider-fey lad. Hitting the spider-lad with a huge swinging backhand making him reel, Sully then jumps up and performs a BEAUTIFUL drop kick on the side of the treant, slamming it into the wall. In a blur of action Sully winds up and lands a haymaker on the recovering spider-boy before grabbing him around the collar with a grip harder then STEEL!

RIP Lutri: 5/19/20-4/2/20
:blizz::gamefreak:
William
William glares at the spiderchild, tightening his grip on his sword.
"No, you don't get to hurt my friends anymore."

He drives his sword into the ground with a flourish, causing a burst of light to wash over Anden as well as his nearby allies. Where as it forms a shielding bubble over the party, it bites deep into Anden's flesh.

"But they will hurt you."

As he quickly chants an intonation of healing, he tears his sword out of the stone and up towards Anden, and while it seems like he might miss for a split second, the sword itself seems to gravitate towards him. The divine magic of the strike leaves him more vulnerable to Lerissa's attacks.

Didn't you mean to ask about flowers?
(Alena, Sariya and Lerissa are up!)

(Adding the Surge and Healing Word on Lerissa(+5 HP) now. Also oops I rolled Anden's save against Acid Arrow at the end of Willard's turn. But I also ticked the damage against him for it and he failed that roll so nothing to see here. :cop:)

Walloped by holy light and regular muscles Anden bleeds from one nostril, his top spider-legs twitching. He grits his teeth and spits up a bloodied mess from them. "Oh I'll hurt you! But maybe you're worried about the wrong guy, worm!" Aligning his spidery limbs Anden tears into Sully's grappling arm again and then follows up as the bottom half of his face flexes and erupts with a set of four snapping mandibles that take a bite out of Sully! Anden immediately tears out some of his flesh for a halved 5 Damage and digests it, gaining back 10 of his own.

Although Anden bloodies at 75/150 HP, going back to 85/150 removes the Bloodied Condition. His stats are updated below.

"Are the ants proud of their ability to work together!?" In a burst of Action(Point!) Anden swipes around wildly with both arms and his other four spider-limbs, unleashing a torrent of silken strands in a Burst 3! The spider's web is not gentle and harshly binds around necks, crushes rib cages and pulls against tendons, dealing a Reduced 8 Damage to William, 7 Damage to Victe, a Halved 5 Damage to Lerissa and Sully and a Halved 4 Damage to Alena! Wrapped in sticky silk William and Victe are Immobilized(UEONT), Sully and Lerissa are Slowed(UEONT) and Alena is pulled to F61 and Slowed(UEONT!)

(Note: These effects will automatically end at the end of *Your Turn*, not Anden's.)

(Nice defense buffs William :golfclap:)

Willard begins slapping his limbs to his sides and taking slow deliberate stomps from one foot to the next. It sounds like a spooky war drum and he cackles along to it, the skulls decorating his roots beginning to shimmer a pale white, dark blue wisps of flame floating in their eyes! "GWOR HOR HOR HOR HOR HOR HOR!"

At least I don't dance with them, right?
Alena

"Go on, Victe! Show that drat tree what-for!" Alena waves the paladin onward to further battle, adding a small dash of magic to get her out of the worst of the webbing.

"As for you, Anden, that was quite the trick. You forgot one thing, though." Alena suddenly appears behind the spider-man, fire in her eyes and a smile on her face.

"You're not the only one with tricks."

Alena's next attack, while effective, is not suitable for polite conversation. For now, it suffices to say that some days make wearing metal-plated shoes so very worth it.

Minor: Use Majestic Word on Victe, letting her spend a healing surge to heal 15 HP and sliding to D57.
Move: Use Fey Step to teleport to D62, avoiding an OA from Anden.
Standard: Use Dirty Deed on Allard: Dirty Deed: 1d20+9 27 vs Reflex, knocking Allard prone.

THINKS CON-AIR WAS A GOOD MOVIE
Lerissa Metzger

Lerissa gave a predatory grin, "Uh oh, cutie. Looks like you're not goin' anywhere." Her tone was sinister as she leaned down to taunt him. She spied the blood trickling out of the wound she had left at Alena's behest.
"And it looks like you're not doin' too well, either. Ooh, blood! That makes this fun!" A flash of red in her eyes as the dark powers manifested again.
Lerissa gripped her giant axe tight, before lifting it high over her head.
"Try not to wriggle around too much."
Shadows once again began to swirl around her, encasing her in a second skin and causing a brief fog, swirling even around her blade. The shadows leapt out, clawing at the boy briefly. She brought her axe down in a wicked arc, hacking into whatever soft tissue she could, letting the shadows seep into the wound to infect it further. As if this wasn't punishing enough, she stamped her mailed foot into his chest, letting out a twisted cackle.
"NEXT time maybe you'll learn some manners."
She rested her axe on her shoulder, "Though I suppose there won't be a 'next time', huh, Sully?"

Sariya

"Man it would really suck to get hit by that if I just charged in like an idiot, wouldn't it?" Didn't you mean to ask about flowers?
Sully, William and Victe are up!

WHAM! With a pained groan Anden is knocked on his back before a righteous mob beating goes down, leaving the spider fey curling his arms up into a tight ball as he endures one massive beating! He coughs and wheezes in the aftermath of Lerissa's wicked slash, his breath appearing in Sariya's fresh cold.

"Yeah, that'd be a shame."

Shifting suddenly into an ethereal form the massive Willard suddenly launches himself straight up at a slight angle, moving with astounding speed! The skulls on his sides erupt into a full ghostly aura and phantasmal forms trace behind the pure white treant as he ascends through the ceiling! A moment later a trailing "gwwwwwooooOOOOORRRRRR!" heralds his return as he crashes down in the middle of the group with a wild impact, the room quaking with the pure fury of it all! The impact shakes loose a corona of raging elemental spirits that swirl around Willard at the moment of impact! After a moment of wild quaking Willard stomps again and the ground beneath him craters, blasting anyone nearby back! He reaches into himself with ghostly arms and picks Anden up, setting him snugly back inside of himself before he phases back into the material.

Willard breaks Sully's grapple. Anden is still Prone.

The initial blast knocks Sully, Lerissa, Alena and William back, dealing 18 Necrotic Damage to Lerissa and Alena and a Halved 9 Damage to Sully and a Halved/Reduced 7 Damage to William!

Willards activates Victe's Divine Challenge and takes 7(?) Radiant Damage! And although all this activity doesn't stop him from burning at the start of his turn for Sariya's Acid Ongoing, it does shake it off and prevent any further damage!

Hopping around and spinning in place Willard begins to stomp and dance, continuing his massive assault! Ending your turn within Willard's aura will deal another 1d6+6 damage to you! Willard Tiles are Safe from this Aura!

Willards great quakes have caused the small bit of leaking water in the Northern wall to expand and begin flooding in to the chamber. It is naturally drawn to the crater and begins to pool beneath Willard.

Stupid Newbie
Victe

Victe eyes an opportunity to make her God proud, as she drags sully back with her shield-arm and steps in his place to take the brunt of the blast. The pain causes her eyes to water up, tears that transforms into bloody droplets running down her cheek, as a brilliant golden light shines in her eyes. Her blade burns in a bright fiery glow, and as she lifts it high into the air, it splinters apart, revealing a divine sword of pure blood-red light. She can feel muscles ache as she twists it around her body in a spin, and swings it at the ghastly beast. With every slash of the sword, a bloody gash tears across her skin, matching the one she makes on the monster. As she become more and more bloodied and wounded, Sully's injuries begin healing, and a macabre trinity of pain delivered, pain received, and pain healed becomes all too realized.

Dragged out of the brawl by Victe Sully takes a single deep breath, then lets it all out in a snort. "What's that, Barkface? Can you have a piece of Sully?" Rushing forward Sully throws all his force and weight into the side of the treant, causing him to stumble, and then Sully follows it up with a massive uppercut, sending the massive tree tumbling over onto his face. Didn't you mean to ask about flowers?
(Alena, Sariya and Lerissa are up.)

Willard goes flying backwards and lands on his side! Anden spills out behind him and lands prone, coughing up blood as he staggers up to his feet. "You little..." The impact has also knocked Lerissa and Alena back a bit... and Anden turns to Alena, brandishing his spider limbs! "Let me pay you back!" With a vibrant neon green flare he unleashes burning strands of poison upon her, dealing 5 Poison Damage to Alena! She is poisoned and takes an additional 3 Damage from Ongoing Poison Damage 3(Hp Total below reflects this!)

Anden smirks as the acid and cold covering him is blasted off by the dramatic attack.

At least I don't dance with them, right?
Alena

Most people would give in when faced by the array of wounds Alena has suffered in the past five minutes. After all, she has been cut by silk, bludgeoned by a tree the size of a (very small) house and covered in venom. The only reasonable choice at this point would be to lay down your sword and hope the spider-man gives you a quick death.

But Alena d'Montaigne is not a reasonable person. Not in her daily life, not in her fantasies, and certainly not when some gangly little spider with delusions of humanity made her bleed her own blood. Surrender simply is not an option. Running Anden down like the dog he is, on the other hand? That's the best choice she could make at the moment.

"That is enough!" Alena lunges forward, swinging wildly. Anden parries them easily, but that's not really a surprise. There's more poison than blood in her sword arm at this point, to be frank. What is surprising is that she keeps swinging. And swinging. And swinging. Each blow batters his defenses down that much more, until finally the blade strikes true.

"Ha ha ha... See? What did I tell you? Hah... The rest of you! Hurry up and turn that log into tinder!" Alena wrenches her blade from the spider-man's guts and staggers back, yelling orders at whoever would listen as she falls back to the entrance.

THINKS CON-AIR WAS A GOOD MOVIE
Lerissa Metzger
Sorry! Family crisis has made things hectic, but not so much so where I need to quit. I just have to, unfortunately, prioritize differently. I'm still here.

Lerissa saw her allies severely wounded, but she grinned at Willard all the same.
"You see? My friends and I are tougher than you'd give us credit for," She circled him as she spoke, lining herself up in a position most advantageous for William and Sully, "And me? I can be kind of a bitch when you hurt my friends." She snarled as she swung her axe into the mass of writhing vines, hacking through and cutting away some of it. Though she nearly missed, the force of her swing made up for the difference.

EVERYBODY IS UP!

Special: You may make any one Skill Check as a Free Action.

With a quiet gasp Anden's life slips away as Alena's blade pierces his chest. He falls backwards and dissolves into a swarm of hopping spiders. The clouds of black bugs spread away and vanish into the crevices and corners of the floor as a vibrant teal glow flashes from the floor, revealed as the last bit of the swarm retreats. It is about the size of a fist and looking at it fills you with a serene calm, like looking into a perfectly still pool of water. It is at E64, under Lerissa's tile.

That calm is interrupted as Willard tries to push himself up and fails, his face crashing into the floor hard enough to shake the room again. He growls and shifts to a quasi-translucent state, pressing his arms down hard and then shifting his body about halfway into the ground itself. He hops straight up from there and phases back into the material, landing with another calamitous shake. "GET AWAY FROM THAT!" With a roar he lunges at Lerissa with surprising speed, picking her up with thick branches! "YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!!!" Growling in rage he squeezes, dealing 13 Damage and Grappling her. The simple action looks like the most minute of arm twitches for the giant treant... but to Lerissa it feels like she's a child again and an adult has scooped her up. And then pinched her torso until her ribs crack and a surge of blood flies out of her mouth and nose.

Escape: Move Action. Athletics vs Willard's Fortitude+5(24) or Acrobatics vs Willard's Fortitude(19.) May Shift 1 on a Success(including ON to Willard Tiles.)

In his wild anger the floating flames in Willard's sockets have turned a dark orange. Sparks fly from his skull-headed lanterns as he instantly purges himself of Lerissa's magical strike. He still takes the initial 5 Ongoing from it this turn as well as 7 Radiant from ignoring Victe's Mark.

The Mighty Guardian is heaving as he stands and his impacts have cracked the floor further. The ceiling is beginning to crack as well and the occasional bit of rubble falls on the far sides of the room.

"...Aw gently caress, well, h-he might have turned into spiders, yeah. Yeah..."

She shakes her head and readies her wand, overcharging it with coldness! "And you... You stand the gently caress down, tree!" She says while shooting an enormous icy blast that explodes on Willard, freezing his roots in place.

THINKS CON-AIR WAS A GOOD MOVIE
Lerissa Metzger

She felt her ribs cave in as the branches and vines constricted, crushing the life out of her slowly but surely. Never had she felt so weak and helpless. Even as Sariya blasted it with frost, she was unsure she could escape. As the healing tones reverberated, however, she felt her muscles brimming with new found strength. With an ease she never expected, she forced herself free of the vines, back to where she was standing. She clutched her axe, and prepared to send the tree reeling. Her body ached even with the repairs that the healing had done.
Lerissa looked at Alena and William, trying to reason with Willard. It seemed a fools errand, at best. She winced, and spit out a glob of blood to the side.
"It's the truth, Willard. We just want to save our town. We don't want to be murderers or thugs or thieves. All we want...all I want...is to prove myself not a monster. Please, let us save the people we love. Let me prove I can be a hero, Willard."

Didn't you mean to ask about flowers?
Willard growls and whirls about, words coming at him from all sides. Then he whirls to glare at Lerissa and unleashes a vicious stomp, the shock numbing William's bones for 6 Damage. "GWWWOOOORRRRRRGGHHH! I HATE HEROES!" He hops and stomps again, this time causing some of the ceiling to crack and fall upon Sariya, rocks battering her for 7 Damage.

Clenching his fists together the massive guardian feels something fail to grab him from behind. Whirling around again he thrusts his arms down, matching gnarled branches against meaty hands. "I'LL CRUSH YOU!" As the two mightiest in the room test their strength against each other the meat-headed Schmidt boy belts out a primal oath! The strength of his words echoes across the room as it grows silent in the absence of Willard's quaking steps. He slowly relents his grip and pulls his arms back up, the hues of his flames drifting back to light blue.

"GWOR... I SHOULD SEE... SISTER. BUT... LATER." He shifts about in place, then utterly ignores everyone and waddles over to the crater. He comes to a halt and his legs retract up into his body, causing him to drop to the ground with a final quake. His roots uncurl and begin to jab into the ground where the water has pooled. After taking a moment to set up his arms droop and he slumps forward, his "eyes" going dark as the wisps within them wink out. He comes to a quiet stop and remains perfectly still. Like a tree. Occasionally a bit of a spooky breeze passes through the hollow trunk and makes a sinister noise. A sinister snore!

Passive Insight: Most creatures that fall asleep or unconscious in a battle are ripe for execution. You get the feeling that like most trees, Willard would take stout men swinging axes dozens of times to even bother him. And he'd probably wake up with the first swing. On the bright side, you should be able to safely climb onto him without disturbing him now.

COMBAT OVER

(You can spend Surges to heal now. Please tell me your final HP and Surge Tallies. Don't forget Song of Rest(+4 HP restored per Surge used during this Rest Period!))

Alena: Without the tense danger of battle you can remove Anden's poison before it does any more harm.

Inside of Willard you find the little web-ball that Anden cast the little fairy into. It trembles and whimpers when picked up.

As for the Mandragora... there's no immediate sign of it. There are a lot of giant cobwebs in the corners of the chamber. Who knows what could be under them?

At least I don't dance with them, right?
Alena

Alena visibly relaxes as Willard slumps to the ground. Finally, no more vicious little spiders trying to tear her to shreds with webbing. No more haunted tree-golems trying to stomp her flat. No more wounds will be opened, no more faeries that need rescuing, no more tears to-oh gently caress, the faerie!

For the briefest of moments, Alena forgot how bloodied she was. She forgot that Willard could easily smash her to a pulp if he woke up right now. She forgot that she looked like a gangly mess of limbs and red hair as she dove into the golem's hole. She just knew that she had to be the noble rescuing the princess tiny faerie from the dungeon golem.

"Come now, faerie. You've spent too long imprisoned as it is."

And then Alena realized how loud her voice sounded when it was echoing around Willard's insides. It is at that point that she decided to back away from the sleeping golem that is nine times her size before unwrapping the faerie. Far, far away. Back-against-the-wall away.

Spending two surges to heal to full. Also made an Arcana check to try to detect any magic items in one of the patches of web, but I couldn't really fit that into this post so I'm just leaving it here so I don't forget to do it later.

Investigating the cobwebs eventually reveals two Mandragora sprouts. One is fully grown and perfectly matches the description Marco gave you. The other is half-grown. Pepper drops to Alena's shoulder and bounces on her heels. "Sister-blood, where are you going next?"

Alena

"Sariya. He was a scoundrel and a knave, and he openly admitted that he was going to kill and eat us. Do not tell me that what I did was not right or just. I will not tolerate it." Alena glares back at Sariya before returning to her work on freeing the faerie. Miserable little witch, acting like she's better than her. She's nobility, she doesn't need to take this...

Of course, any indignation was washed away once Alena finished unraveling the faerie's cocoon and Pepper started showering her in praise.

---

"Oh pshaw. It was nothing." Alena waves her hand dismissively. "You're travelling with us, after all. Can't let any travelling companion of mine get captured by some sleazy little spider. That wouldn't be very noble of me, after all."

"As for what we did, well, it all began with..."

--A solid minute of basking in Pepper's attention and five minutes of clearing web later--

"And that's why Anden deserved everything that we gave him." Alena looks down on the revealed mandragora stalks and grins. She's mostly grinning because a faerie has been massaging her ego constantly, mind you, but it's still satisfying to see a well-cleared patch of land. Especially when that land contains the one thing she came here for.

"After this? Well, we'll be digging up this mandragora and taking it back to our village. You can come along, if you like. That's a personal invitation from me to you, by the way. Very exclusive."

I'll be taking Pepper's Boon here, obviously. I'll also be taking her as a familiar if she's still around and friendly the next time I level, so yeah. I'm not going to let the chance to have a faerie groupie slip through my fingers.

Also, since Doomy brought it up in IRC, I'm going to say that Alena has some pretty ugly lacerations on the upper part of her sword arm from all the webbing Anden spat at her that she couldn't block. Also some ugly tears in her jacket, but that's not too hard to fix.

Victe

After a few moments of lying on her back, trying to catch her breath and taking time to feel the sting of every wound, in glorious acclaim of Ilmater's ever-presence, she climbs back on her feet and begin searching around the room. She quickly discovers a small silver necklace.

Astounded, she grabs the necklace and holds it into the air to get a better look at it. "This... Guys!" she calls for the others. "Guys, look, I can prove I'm not crazy! Look!" she enthusiastically holds it out towards William. "This is Ilmater's symbol, like on my mother's locket! I told you I didn't make him up, this is a holy relic!"

She quickly attaches it around her neck and run over to the crystal pane to draw a little symbol in the dust, and begin praying fervently.

Picking around the junk Sully snatches a small cloak clasp in the shape of a lion's head. "Well ain't ya pretty? Yeah, I'm takin' this. It's not like I need any weapons to pummel things, ha!" With that Sully goes to actually check the corners of the room.

Not gonna bother spending more surges, got 35 HP and 6 surges left. Both of Sully's arms have some new scars, multiple tiny gashes where Anden's barbed legs caused some damage. They contrast pretty well with his numerous older scars

She stood up and clasped the axe to her back, eying the boots, far too big for anyone elses' feet.
She cracked her neck and knelt down to grab them, talking without turning her gaze on her, "I have no idea what possessed Marco to saddle us with YOU," She put on the boots and admired the spines, "Whether it was nepotism, or some misguided hope you'd learn to stop being such a selfish little troll..."

She stood up, giving the boots a few stomps and kicks to make sure they fit. She took a few steps, admiring the jagged soles, much thicker than her old boots.

"Or maybe he just wanted to be rid of you."
As cruelly and coldly as she had said that, she changed the subject, as if implying the girl was unwanted was less important.
