Go into any thread and chances are you'll find 2 back to back pages of people talking and arguing about off topic things. Clearly some people are heavily invested in these topics so there must be something to talk about. Here's a few of my favorites.  For those who don't know, the man kicking the child has Down Syndrome. Apparently the child startled him and he responded by kicking the kid. The dad being a dad knocks his rear end out. This is a great thread derailed because it's a lovely situation all around yet people will still argue that there's a right and wrong side to it. Depending on who you ask mentally ill people should have free reign to do what they want and the father is an rear end in a top hat for striking him. Or the father is a hero for punching a clearly mentally ill person. Personally I'm on the father's side of it. With just instinct and seconds to go by, I'm not going to fault him for striking a person who attacked his child. If that mentally ill man can't be trusted to not attack small children then he probably shouldn't be in public. My other favorite thread derail is Tipping. I'm a big fan of tipping. I know many people in the service industry rely on those tips for day to day life between their paychecks and many tipped employees actually make under minimum wage because they are expected to make up for it with tips. My sister on the other hand hates tipping. She claims she's already paying for the service why should she pay even more? Pizza delivery, restaurants, haircuts, not a single penny towards tipping and it makes me embarrassed to go out with her when she's paying. What I really like about tips deraling threads though is that it often brings out non-american goons to post and chime in. Regardless of what your stance on tipping is, the rest of the world agrees that America's tipping rules are weird and need adjustment.

In the vein of tipping, unlisted sales taxes. There are American goons who will actually defend this practice. Gun control, too. Apparently it is perfectly reasonable for the everyman on the street to have a tool that lets him kill two to three people at any given time before someone can react, should he choose to do so.

It doesn't start arguments, but I've noticed that if Family Guy comes up, a dozen people will be tripping over each other to hate it the most. Pizza places use canned pineapple, which I do not like on pizza. I used to be vehemently against it until my girlfriend had me try a pizza made with freshly cut pineapple. If you like pineapple and pizza both, you can try it out; I found it to be much better.
