Check out a local band from my hometown, Brisbane, called Tape/Off: http://tapeoff.bandcamp.com/

They're releasing their first full-length in two-ish weeks? It's fantastic, having been lucky enough to grab a sneaky listen to it. Check out the clip for the first single, too:

While their albums are fine, they were a way better single and EP band.

e: oh fulfilling the original request, yeah probably stick to the albums. And i forget the CD's now have the singles tacked on to the end of them.. Big help i am.

I've seen shit you people wouldn't believe. Cop cars on fire off the shoulder of I-94. I watched search lights glitter in the dark near the Ambassador Bridge. All those moments will be lost in time, like piss in the drain. Time to retch.
Just saw Failure tonight. Never thought I'd get the chance. They certainly did not disappoint, just had to tell someone.

I'm glad they're back together, I saw them in '95 as the last band of a 4-band showcase and they were not the best (they were still trying to sound like Nirvana at that point) but I liked them enough to remember their name and buy their later, better albums.

For the record, the best band that night was Rust.

I never heard that before but I'll put it on my to get list. Amazing Letdowns is a timeless pop treasure so I'm interested in a full-length with that same style. The first Lilys album, some people think of as the follow up to Lovelss that never was. It's not as good, but it's the sound of big MBV worship and those guys proved themselves over the years to be very clever songwriters.

whoah, that's interesting. The Linkin-Park rapper vocals seem a little bit out of place on the first few listens though. Personally I'm not much into the 'hipster-hop.' I listen to just rap in my truck but it's the real nigga stuff... The Dalek guys sound like white dudes from England, but it's definetly got the shoegaze thing going on. It'd probably sound amazing chopped and screwed done right.

This band, Cheatahs released their first full length earlier this year, but it's not quite as good as their first EP Sans.

It sounds kind of like Sugar's Copper Blue except more committed to it's shoegaze influence and much less Mould-y overall. Or an EP-length "Everlong" if that sounds like your kind of thing.

The Bilinda Butchers have a new album out in 11 days, Heaven, which'll be released on Orchid Tapes. You can pre-order it here!

Two songs have been unveiled so far. The first was a while ago now, "Edo Method", and the second was released an hour ago and features Sara Psalti (whoever that is?), "Golden House". I think the first song is pretty great and sounds like a great theme to a '90s anime, haha; the second I'm not sure about yet as I've only listened to it once.

Lantlôs's new album is really good. If you don't know, they're a German metalgaze band or whatever you want to call it. Neige from Alcest used to sing for them, but the lead guy in the band sings now and it's all clean vocals.

It is funny how there is now a trend for the blackgaze bands to start dropping the blackmetal part and lose what little they had to be interesting becoming more and more just straight up shoegaze. Like this is album just sounds like the guy is trying his best to be as boring as Jesu is now. .Neon and the self titled are much better imo.
