Yeah Senketsu's VA himself is pretty good and has been in some great roles before but he just doesn't fit the character. I also don't really like Sanageyama but the other three are fine.

It's mostly just the mispronounced Japanese that annoys me in this and practically every dub.
If it was possible I would want Troy Baker to be Sanageyama, but then again I'm a Troy Baker mark

Thanks mate, time to buy more nendoroids. Now to wait for a Satsuki release.

I read somewhere that there are about 8 possible meanings to Ryuko depending on how you use the characters. I don't even know how the Japanese can handle this stuff and it certainly can't cross over into English too easily.

Still curious to hear Nui and Ragyo.

You need to be a badass first.
Sarah Williams (Peacock from Skullgirls) is getting more work and that is making me really happy to see. She absolutely nailed Jakuzure.

Out of the voices from the trailer, Jakuzure, Gamagori, and Satsuki were the best. Sanageyama, Aikuro, and Inumuta were acceptable, Ryuko was iffy, and Mako and Senketsu were garbage. Pretty alright job all around though, just have to see who's voicing Nui and Ragyo.

Also it's gonna be weird hearing Psycho Mantis' voice coming out of Satsuki's butler.

Nui is literally the verb for sewing. Harime can possibly mean "needle eye". The puns are not subtle.

Just say it right? It's really not that hard. The stress in Honnouji doesn't fall on the "no", "Matoi" is not two syllables and I don't even know what was going on with "Kiryuuin" there.

All they have to do is listen to it said correctly and do the same thing. Studios and voice actors who specialise in anime should be able to do that if nothing else.

Just watch the subs then.

It already is. It literally was the next popular web novel after SAO which hit resounding success.

Mahouka's popularity in the West will always confound me. Its popularity in Japan isn't unexpected though.

What do you mean? NGNL's anime adaptation isn't doing very well because it's not perverted enough to pander to the LN readers/otaku crowd but it's a little too much for the regular watcher crowd (as evidenced by this very forum). Which sucks, because it's great.

That's probably just a result of the type of people who took that poll. It's useless as anything but a rough comparison of popularity, and what is more interesting is comparing the women's and men's chart.

I realize it's sharing a season with a mecha show powered by molestation and one with younger sister infatuated with her older brother who invincible and everyone else doesn't understand them, but being better than that trash hardly makes a show where they have a gag where it's okay to show all the girls naked because they have their genitals removed "great."

Well, it's the most watched anime of the season on MAL. For perspective, it has as many watchers as Mahouka and Jojo's combined. The discussion threads on reddit have almost 4-times as many comments and upvotes as Mahouka. I don't know what your metric for "regular" anime watcher is, but from my experience it's pretty much the epitome of what casual anime fans will eat up.

Didn't know about the Reddit thing but last I heard the word out of Japan was that the reception is kinda tepid compared to the following of the LN. My metric for a regular show would be "can have a thread on this forum" though.

I dunno, Haikyuu isn't on the men's list at all, neither is Kamigami, which is understandable because it is an otoge. That being said Kamigami is pretty funny from what I've seen of it so I'm just assuming the fan pandering parts of it just totally turn dudes off. Mekaku being completely absent from the boy's list is kinda weird though, I mean its main flaw is that it is very inconsistent from episode to episode which wouldn't turn off a whole gender from it.
