Yes it is. Was early in the morning when I wrote that I'm worse at posting tired than drunk.

If you're doing replacements, I'd be interested in it, but only if I could simply take over the player replacing out's character. All my 40K/DH/DW/RT/OW books are in boxes somewhere and not a chance I'll be able to find them.

Did I not hit the ringleader? Or did I misunderstand which one that was? He seems to be still standing behind the initial line of mooks in front diagonally up and across from Strang.

Do you know the rules about formations? I guess I should not assume not everyone has all the splat books. Formations are out of enemies of the Imperium. Basically they work like hordes but on a smaller scale and with a leader. Attacks against the formation just hit a mook unless you make a specific called shot action(including the negatives to hit), or roll doubles. I guess when I glanced at the crunch I didn't see a called shot so I just assumed it was a pot shot at the formation. In that I didn't reconcile what you posted with what the crunch said, I apologize.

No biggie. I try to unofficially post about once a week. If I don't have a post from someone I just NPC them, though only for so long. I imagine Keter is going to meet an unfortunate end next post.

I have it, but am too lazy to have read up on it :(

I assumed I could target the leader, but eh, no worries. Perhaps I can do it this turn?

Yeah just make a called shot on the overseer. I don't know if you have either of the talents that lower the called shot talent, but if you do, don't forget to factor them in.

Hope to update at least before the weekend is over. A few folks expressed interest in joining so want to give them time.

Also having some trouble figuring out which idea swimming in my head will be the next mission, plus I also want to get the whole mission layout/enemy placement totally done before hand.

Good to hear. What I'm interested in is some feedback on how to proceed with combat. One thing I've noticed from my other game and playing in others is doing combat round by round is pulling teeth and grinds a game down so I'm trying to think of a way to group multiple rounds together.

The actual shooting thing isn't an issue here, I can group that up fine, the issue is how to do the room by room clearing. I've an idea, but I'll take some input to.

Here is the idea:
1. You guys will be able to see the whole map. As fun as fog of war is it will grind things down. Enemy locations will still be hidden however, until you open the door or use an augur to detect life signs.
2. I am going to number rooms
3. I will post the map in here
4. Here in the ooc thread you folks will work out your clear plan. It can be as simple as going, "Tias and frajaq will clear rooms 5,8,11 and 9 flashing before room 8" or even download the map draw the routes with colored lines and poo poo.
5. With the plan in place I'll run through your pre plan, stopping when combat comes up to get your actions, then run combat multiple rounds at a time.

Does that sound good, or are there any suggestions?

Okay, here is the map cross-posted in here. Blue are windows and they can be looked in/broken in for entrances. Black are exterior doors. The ones one square wide normal one person doors. the doors 2 square wide are like garage doors. Take as much time to figure out where you're going to enter at and your moves. I don't expect you to have every single step planned out since circumstances will change once you get inside and start to find enemy locations.

Absent information about where we can expect sentries or our target, I say we go in through the windows up at 6/7 area and 51/52/53. Half and half and then converge in towards the center cubicle(?) area numbered 26-37. I think that gives us some decent cover and significantly fewer rooms to our flanks than if we came in one direction only and allows up to smash opposition between us.

Perhaps we may even want to stagger our entrance so one, larger team ends up drawing fire and the other team comes up behind and murders them where they don't have cover.

We don't really know where to expect the bulk of our enemies, so any staggered entry could end up pinned down. Still, I agree on the entrances, the small rooms are quickly breached, and then we can get on with business.

Well, fuck. Really?
DID I HEAR A VERY SPECIAL LAWYER SAW HE NEEDED A RIOT OFFICER??

Nicholas Angel

Sometimes, life gives you lemons.

Othertimes, life throws a bucket of paint in your face while you try to keep people from killing each other and tearing apart the city because there's a shortage of food, and you were given a shield and a helmet and told to keep people at bay, and oh look some tosser brought a spud gun and now your mate's caught a raw potato to the plums at 10km an hour, poor sod should have never reached for his baton because that means moving his shield, bloody idiot. Better him than you, anyways, and even though there's paint on your visor you don't really need to see because any minute now someone will bring out the water cannons or a great big gob of tear greandes and the crowd will disperse and everyone will laugh at Jasper and how he caught a tater with his tadger.

For Nick, most days are the other times. Throughout his life, he has found himself being poo poo upon and forced into the center of conflicts to soak up the bullshit while someone smarter and better at thinking sorts it out. All he has to do is stand there and take it, and if he's lucky, survive it; it'll be cleaned up while he's dealing with a face full of ploin jam.

Who brings jam to a bloody food riot and throws it, anyways? No wonder those idiots are starving and angry.

Haven't really posted an update because I'm expecting a robust tactical discussion by the players. I'm not saying we need ten pages of ooc chatter for each mission, but at least some input from each player on a plan.

Am I expecting too much? Are you folks not interested in all the rainbow six tactical planning? Or is it hard for you guys to really plan without knowing numbers and locations? If it's the latter just know that this mission is intentionally low on Intel. Future missions will have things like known hostage locations or last enemies sightings known.

Also, to the extent you guys want, I can drop you on this place, and if someone brings an auspex and passes the test to see people through walls and adjust accordingly, we can.

Honestly, I was just waiting for the squad leader to come up with first plans and such. This is my first pbp game so I figured others would take the lead.

Then you're not RRATS material. Just kidding, But step on up, worse thing that happens is you need to burn a fate point to not be dead.

Speaking of not RRATS material, frajaq has informed me he won't be continuing on. With such a rate of attrition, and the sheer difficulty to even get one more additional player (Dyne) I don't know if I'm going to keep the game going.

I'm out of town for work until Wednesday evening (phone posting) so no update or decision until then. I put a lot of work into this custom rules and I'd hate to close it, but lack of numbers and interest might do her in. In the meantime if someone wants to step up to be acting squad leader, be my guest.

As I mentioned, I am also on a working vacation (booking for a music festival), but I could post at the current relaxed rate.

I'm thinking this, like most FFG, would work really well over IRC or Skype perhaps - The slow pace of PbP invariably makes some people fall off or lose interest.
