Herve ft. Zebra Kats- Tear the House Up https://soundcloud.com/maddecent/herve-zebra-katz-tear-the-house-up Sounds lot like the old Fidget Herve. I guess he realized that fidget was basically just jacking house. I like it alot.

Looking to go into San Francisco towards the end of July. Wondering: Any good house events that could help me sway towards a particular date?

That's a bit too far out. Most events don't get promoted that far in advance. There's good stuff here every weekend. Your profile says you're in Reno so you should probably check out the Sunset Campout though: https://www.facebook.com/events/599825910086468

Muslimgauze might be the only House/Techno-ey band that I am intimately familiar with. And by Mohammad, Bryn Jones, may he rest in peace. I showed it to a girl who was way into going to the gay bars that play techno, so she knew a lot more about techno than me. She said it sounded like music people take drugs and trip out too. gently caress yea, crazy islam politics + middle eastern percussion on some drum loops equals 5 hour Muslimgauze playlists, from my end.

Duke Dumont straddles that line between house and pop really well and I feel like we haven't seen that since the early 90s. This in particular reminds me of several Black Box tracks.

Probably because one of the vocal lines/delivery copies Ride On Time, the living it up part. And while I normally wouldn't bother with this here, but speaking of nicked lines - though a bit different in this case - MermaidS new single on the legendary Glasgow Underground is a loving groovin' piece of future boogie. The b-sides ain't have bad either. http://www.redeyerecords.co.uk/vinyl/53015-gu2038-mermaids-%E2%80%93-who%E2%80%99s-that-girl

I love Duke Dumont. Biggest regret of Coachella was not being able to see him because the tent he was in was completely full and they weren't letting anyone in. Here is some new music I have been really digging. This first mix is by Russ Chimes and is super mellow and groovey, lots of great piano in the intro tracks. Anyone that liked that Tropical House mix I posted a few weeks back will love this one as well. https://soundcloud.com/russchimes/mix-series-rc1 My girlfriend actually found this next mix on gottadancedirty soundcloud page. Again, a very similar style to the Tropical House mix, it feels very summery. https://soundcloud.com/gottadancedirty/gdd-guest-mix-casino-gold Porter released a new track which I am assuming is going to be on his new album that will release later this year. The tracks released so far are really promising and I am extremely excited about the direction he is taking. https://soundcloud.com/porter-robinson/lionhearted-feat-urban-cone

Here's an example of one of their tracks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXFMJYblCd8 First of all, what specific genre does this fall into and what would be some good stuff to branch out to in the same vein?

Modern takes are chromeo (as noted) and dam funk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fcdpi16NfrY Dam funk is more west, coast slower funk stuff. Zapp is faster, R&B style funk and chromeo is more a student of that style. All of them pretty much draw a direct line from parliament funkadelic. Then, you just eventually slide into 80s electro hole. incoherent fucked around with this message at 19:50 on Jul 12, 2014 |

foutre posted:I'm trying to experience my Midwestern heritage and get to know Deep House better. Actually, I don't have a constructive reply to this post that wouldn't be mean, but I think you might be able to help me out. For like the past year I've noticed EDM bros start using the term "deep house" incredibly incorrectly and seemingly for any type of 4x4 music that isn't "EDM." Can you give me examples of what you think deep house is and/or attempt to articulate what it means to you? This whole phenomenon is really confusing to me because, initially, I was really pumped that people were getting into deep house but then I just realized that the term essentially meant nothing in the contexts in which it was being used. EDIT: Unless that was a fakepost or whatever.
