I just saw them perform Familiars in full tonight. It was pretty incredible to hear live. They used a fourth member on the synthesizer and trumpet with Darby also joining in on trumpet at times. There was no second guitar or bass, so this tour may focus a lot on the new material.

Sounds like a great idea, though I'll admit I get most of my suggestions from this thread. I should just follow Attention Horse, everything he has suggested I have been loving this year.

Glad to read there's interest in my idea.

Let me make a suggestion. 10 song, 40-50 minute playlists for ease of digestion. One artist, one song obviously.

I'll wait for a few more replies and maybe we could pair people up, have a few days with others' playlists and then exchange opinions on the songs?

It could even be it's own thread, really...although then you'd need a new Spotify Playlist Exchange thread for each genre and it might get messy.

I got the playlist you sent me. I stupidly forgot my headphones for work and I don't want to cheat the music by listening with my busted-rear end backup pair with only one working earbud, so I'll listen in the car later. This weekend, probably tomorrow, I'll send you one back. Cheers!

Anyone got any recommendations for something in the vein of Dinosaur Jr, Pavement, and/or Built to Spill. I've got everything by Yuck, Cheap Girls, Screaming Females and Hebronix which is what I'm looking for, but I haven't come across anything else recently and I'm craving some new crunchy guitar rock.

Not exactly new, but you might take a stab at "Built On Squares" by Starlight Mints. They're pretty close to that vein you're describing, although they do some really interesting things with instrumentation.

Also, not in your list, but falls even more cleanly into that vein, "I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One" by Yo La Tengo, but I bet you already knew that.

I was really into Dinosaur Jr. one summer and the other two bands I had in constant rotation at the time were Husker Du and Lifter Puller. Candy Apple Grey and Zen Arcade are both amazing Husker Du albums. As far as Lifter Puller goes I really like Fiestas and Fiascos.
