Yeah, the finale was the first sign that things were starting to come together, and by Season 2 it was humming.

Parks and Rec doesn't become really good IMO until Mark leaves. Not only does the character suck but the actor also sucks.

Me, I say skip the first season, because it inspired a deep and abiding loathing for Andy and Tom that didn't go away until halfway through season 3 and sometime in season 4, respectively, when they expect you to be sympathetic to them by midway through season 2.

Everything you say here is also on point. The first season versions of Andy and Tom are really terrible and you pretty much need to forget them completely to enjoy them later. There are also a lot of problems with Leslie's character that get ironed out eventually too. That being said I'd still watch the first season just because it's only about two hours long and if you're going to invest time in watching the show you might as well watch it all. I would never advocate skipping episodes of a show you're trying to get into .

Your mother!

Y'all are Philistines for not including Homicide: Life on the Street for best intros:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zX7ALBb4MSc

(Apologize for the low quality; NBC / A&E appears to be cracking down on them. The Season 1 - 4 intro is the best; the scrolling faces in 5 - 7 was just silly, but the music is still great)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEjaiVQyZto

Also, y'all are remiss in forgetting e.r.:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5a8Bkl3gks

As for worst intro of all-time ... I have to agree with Psych. That song gets so incredibly grating.

Well, best tv intro is a whole other can of worms, and I have a hard time separating intros I like for nostalgic reasons from genuinely good intros.

I mean, I loving love the original Perfect Strangers theme song. The song is cheesy in an 80s way, but still good. All the shots of the cousins with their families are really touching (check out 80s guy at .30). Balki on the boat excited to see the Statue of Liberty and then the both of them traveling to Chicago to face their destinies, just wonderful. I love it. I loving love all of it. But is it objectively good? I don't know.

The fact that I remember the entire intro without watching it even though I haven't seen in well over decade (at least) is proof enough to me that it's a pretty good intro. I don't remember the intros for a lot of shows I watched all the time at that age, and I didn't even watch that one much, but I still remember it. I think I caught it in syndication on USA or something early mornings when I was a kid.

I hate to support Irish Joe's terrible loving gimmick so thanks for this. Perfect Strangers was an awesome show and I can recite that intro right along side the Fresh Prince intro or anything else that ridiculously iconic.

I'm old though, I watched it as it originally aired. Perfect Strangers was event tv back in the 80s. Booochy boochy boochy!

I've been watching House on Netflix, and since they didn't get the rights to the Massive Attack song that was in their credits for network airing, there's some random other Massive-Attack-sounding composition for the opening credits. Now I'm used to that and would probably find the Massive Attack credits weird if I heard them.

I still don't get how moving from a house to an apartment is "moving on up" for the Jeffersons. Did Archie Bunker live in a really bad neighborhood or something?

Well, Urkel was originally just supposed to be a wacky recurring neighbor character and not the main character, so I don't think much happened as planned with that show.

Just to elaborate, first of all every season has a different intro. In s2 there was a story arc about a computer virus that was created to infect the major plot device of the show, so the intro would get super corrupted and reboot during relevant episodes. In s3 there was an all flashback episode that used the s1 intro in rewind, and an episode from the point of view of a different character, who wrangled the opening narration from the usual protagonist.
