I have a land line and I want software to grab the Caller ID info (via modem) and match that to a database of people/customers. Bonus integrating this information into google contacts or even outlook.

Bottom line I have looked for something like this for years and it doesn't seem to exist. Every day I enter phone numbers and names into my Outlook and it drives me crazy. There has gotta be a way to automate this without going to a PBX system or spending thousands of dollars on VOIP. Halp!

what?
There are plenty of programs that can do this. Just searching "outlook caller ID" got me plenty of options. I don't use Outlook so I have no input to offer on what's good, but you have your choices.

If you're bored and have the slightest interest in programming it wouldn't be hard to do a call logger yourself. Hook the modem to the phone line, open the serial port in your program, and listen for RING messages. After the first RING you will get the caller ID information if available delivered in plain text.
