If we're talking about fun videos, pretty much anything with the Gonz in it will do. My favourite is his NYC art exhibit.

[Tell] me about penny killers from funboxdist. As fun as they look? And I have not had much time on the Quest and am still a complete novice, but I think I am going to like the board style/wheel size, but may want to be able to turn in a slightly tighter radius. Would that Bustin 35 be a good upgrade after I have ridden the Quest enough to want an upgrade and retire to beater board with something nicer?

Loose trucks save lives. Play with your bushing and truck setup before spending real money on a new board.

I saw a youtube ad recently for "skate trainers" which looked like toy monster truck plastic wheels you slip over your wheels to basically slow your roll waaaaaaaaay down to practice tricks and poo poo...am I missing something or can't you just do tricks in some short grass? Which would bring the added benefit of not falling on concrete if you really mess up? http://www.skatertrainer.com/ Edit: oh poo poo they've got me covered in the faq quote:Can't I just practice in the grass? Hrmmmm I dunno about all that friends. But hey, this is America, if someone wants to buy then baby go get yours. I don't mind. On the topic of penny killers, if I order just a deck, can I use my existing hardware from my Stereo Vinyl Cruiser? I feel like I've read that either Stereo or Penny uses slightly different mounting points.

Penny has their own trucks but mounting points are still new school trucks. Don't worry about it.

Everyone should check out Satta Skates (https://www.sattalivity.com I think) a company based in London that makes sidewalk surfers etc. harkens back to 60s skating on hardwood boards beginings of Dogtown style. Beautiful decks.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I've done basically nothing but watch videos for the last couple of days. If I wanted to get a deck to ride to work and other places what should I get? I don't really want a cruiser, would prefer a normal board so one day I could ollie There is a sweet local place just around the corner from me that has heaps of stuff but it's been so long since I skated (14 years or some poo poo) that I have no idea about brands or anything really.

Anyone in NYC want to take this board off my hands for $130? http://www.bustinboards.com/Board-Type-Modela-35-p/bn_mod_street.htm Only been used about 8 times to cruise to different stores. I love it it's just a little big for me. Bear trucks on it, not Paris V2.

Red_Fred posted:Anyone have thoughts on this? I would go to the local shop, see if they have any shop decks which are typically a little cheaper, around $30-$35. Otherwise get something with a graphic you like. I would go for at least an 8 inch wide deck. Personally I prefer an 8.5 inch. You'll have more room for you feet. Get some Independent trucks that fit the board size or some Ace trucks if you are feeling like turning a little quicker and they have them. Bearings: get whatever... They will probably have Bones Reds for around $20. For wheels for cruising try to get at least 54 mm. A softer wheel will feel smoother on rough stuff so keep that in mind. The guy who owns the shop may be the most helpful, find out when he works if someone else is working. Don't be afraid of the shop, they need to sell stuff and they need your support. We are all grown rear end men playing on scooter boards. If you have specific questions post them up here.

Hey guys, I'm new to skateboarding so forgive me if I ask a stupid question. I'm on vacation at Ocean City and I'm seeing a ton of these little plastic boards. Are these a new thing or is it a retro design? Prices seem alright ($25-$40) so I was thinking of picking one up to cruise around the boardwalk. They easy to ride? Because I'm about 6'2" and don't have the best balance.

They're something that's making a comeback. I wouldn't call it easy, they're harder to cruise around on than a wider board for obvious reasons but it's not so bad you couldn't figure it out after a few rolls around a parking lot. Plus they're usually so small you can safely jump off and away when poo poo goes real bad without worrying about it flipping around and murdering you or your nuts.

I'm assuming that they are intended for cruising around and I shouldn't be trying to do a lot of tricks, right?

One of the kids in my alternative high school program can tre bomb a penny board so it's what you make of it... They're loads of fun. If you are just going to the store or have walking sections on your commute they're perfect. Their form factor lets you carry them everywhere and still do adult life things. The lack of grip tape makes it pleasant to haul around where you might see other human beings like on a bus or subway.

Although on the upside I've heard lots of people say if you learn a trick on a cruiser it's much easier to do it on a real board. All I know is that everything besides pop shuv it's were pretty much impossible for me.

Speaking of commute skating I just put a deposit on an apartment that features a pretty hefty hill I will have to walk everyday. Methinks I'm going to have to tame the speed wobbles so I can save 10 minutes of sleep in time.

Yeah I'm in love with that part for real. If Gou was a satellite exploring deep space then JP is man first orbiting the moon. A little more relatable but no less amazing and impressive. I always knew Rodney Mullen was an interesting guy and some kind of savant on a board but between his Ted talk and especially the Bone Brigade official docu...I'm not sure that's a human. He's some sort of angel or evolved human. His mindset and headspace is just as next-level as his skateboarding.

I'm sure you'll find a replacement you like. Tkp trucks aren't exactly the poster child for progressive design anymore. The internet seems to think Krux trucks are a good alternative, I'd try those. Lightweight but no GK lifetime guarantee. I'm probably going to pick up a set for myself after researching this, I'd like to see what life without heavy Indys is like.
