CaptainYesterday posted:January, I think. Yup somewhere in Q1 this year after a long break the shortened title sequence sans ep names started. I miss them quite a bit honestly. The show hasn't felt like itself consistently this whole year. Like there are still really funny episodes but the monologue in particular has gotten more and more joyless and very few jokes are landing (exception being the Burt's Bees punfest this week). I was shocked that he got renewed for so long because I've been reading him as sort of resigned for so many months. Maybe it's just me!

http://teamcoco.com/video/82643/coffee-table-books-that-didnt-sell-06-02-14 This is a prime example of what I love about Conan's show. When he introduces "Porn Actors In New Careers", he knows it's awful and just leaves it up for a minute without saying anything while the audience laughs at the cover art, then he shakes his head and flips it off the table.

Jesus Christ, the WikiBear skit on tonight's Conan was the best skit on that show since the last WikiBear skit. There was so much ad-libbing, it was outrageous.

Conan also went to E3 and did a Clueless Gamer segment on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, which isn't even out yet. It's loving hilarious. He spends most of the time commenting on how ridiculous all the characters are.

Surprise, surprise, video games can be fun when people get past the stigmas and preconceptions about gaming. Seriously though Nintendo needs to stop it with the creepy PR girls. At least these ones didn't appear to be physically attached to DSes.

That animal segment on Fallon last night was loving hilarious and probably one of the best animal segments on a late night show I've ever seen. Jimmy and Rosario Dawson really get into it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciqlC8lOgfI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NDPJp7XDew

Also funny: Kids looking ashamed of their parents because they don't know a thing about Harry Potter.

"Not exactly a late night talk show" belongs to Craig. Fallon not talking as much just cements the idea that NBC wants it to be "The Tonight "3 minute comedy clip we can throw up on Youtube" Show with Jimmy Fallon". I guess they figure they can find 3 tolerable minutes of Jimmy Fallon a night to put on Youtube if they cut down on the interviews. (and as you can guess, I'm not a fan of Fallon)

The man is 88 so the odds are good that he signs on as a producer for B-movies just so they get made. On the other hand Stan Lee is even older and still manages to be involved in things here and there so who knows.

|
# ? Jul 16, 2014 12:42 |

^^^ Yeah, but I have to admit that whole interview segment was hilarious. I haven't really watched Letterman much since the 90's, certainly not regularly. I'm about to cut the cable with Comcast so I've been watching him a little more lately and I must say it's typical for my luck that now I would get back into his show, right before he goes off the air. I am looking forward to seeing Colbert fill this spot, but my questions about that are probably the same as everyone elses: which Colbert are we going to get?

I think he already said he's not doing the character, didn't he?
|
# ? Jul 16, 2014 14:34 |

That's my understanding. What I mean is, I guess I don't know enough about Colbert to really know what thats going to be like. I've only ever seen him in character, at least to my knowledge. I guess it's a testament to how well crafted the character is that I wouldn't know the difference off hand.

Colbert had a gig doing lighthearted/humorous news stories for Good Morning America for a while in the 90s, and typically does press interviews as himself, if you're looking to track down stuff that shows how he is when he isn't Colbert the character.
