Legitimately my most anticipated new TV show premiere this year. Charlie Huston, who's doing all the scripts, is loving fantastic, and I'm interested to see how he handles the TV writing/EP duties. And David Slade directing? Jesus Christ, I'm overcome.

EDIT: Uh wait a minute there's a teen lead uh oh

That's not accurate at all. The pilot is roughly a billion times better than everything that came after it. Now, where you place the pilot quality-wise is up to you, but it only gets much, much worse.

Yeah I'm hoping its another Nick Pizzolatto situation, but unlike in True Detective, I have actually have read Huston's stuff before seeing his TV stuff.

Weren't the first 13 episodes where the songs were actual performances (in the show)? And then after that they started using the songs to act as people singing about their feelings and all imaginary situations.

Well, the Science Channel, which was supposed to be the "hard science" Discovery network when the flagship channel started turning into homogenized poo poo, now shows science fiction, so it's like really how much further down can you go.

That teen character they cast isn't a lead. He's not even in the comic so he can only have so much of a role.

Nah the first 13 were full of in their head singing about their feelings type malarkey. Starting with episode 2 with the "Smashed Your Windows" song

It's dumb stupid fun for the most part but they didn't really put much effort into the 'double agent' aspect as much as I thought they would until like a week or so ago. It's alright, it's not great. If you have nothing better to watch go right ahead. It's mostly inoffensive.

Hmm, doesn't sound like it should be too high on my list. Maybe I'll finally check out Longmire or Salem, instead.

Not being in the comic doesn't mean a thing for an adaption, I think. And even if he isn't a lead, I guess I've been burned by hokey teenage plots in other TV shows before. Can anyone think of the last teenage supporting castmember whose plots were ACTUALLY an interesting part of their respective shows?

Sometimes Eve on Last Man Standing as well. Sometimes her stories are the worst part of LMS tho, she's real inconsistent

But the Brody Bunch where the best thing about that show. It was exactly the content I was hoping for in my mature spy drama.

Have they spoken any about their previous love of the character/actress and their changed opinion?

I think Morgan Saylor was pretty great still. Not her fault her character was a useless blithering moron. But anyway I never finished Homeland season 3 and I doubt I ever will after I read that season 4 is likely gonna have Carrie/Quinn getting together and Brody still showing up in flashbacks.

I'm in the same situation as you Bown, couldn't get through S3, dunno if I want to finish it. I didn't think there was anything wrong with Morgan Saylor (she's pretty good, actually), just Dana being written really meh is hard to work with.

Those spoilers though, hahahahahahah oh my god. Showtime's execs has its grimy fingers in deep, don't they?
