DUNSON'D
hey guys i know you guys think i am lame or w/e but i hope to make amends by introducing you to Lady. i call her lady bug (you can see she has a ladybug collar on in one of the pics!) or lady boo. i don't remember why i came up with lady boo, but lady bug has been around forever! i was playing with my iphone slow motion cam and took a lot of videos of her and really enjoyed them so i want to share with you! however, we need to get a little intro out of the way.

Lady Boo Bug is a thirteen year old (yeah i know holy poo poo!) jack russell in every sense of the word. she's the most neurotic dog i have ever encountered. i think the reason she is neurotic is because she has the most obsessive personality i have seen in a dog. the cat and fetch are her biggest stressers in life. she loves the cat but attacks the cat and gets very very very very jealous if you pick the cat up. she will jump up on the couch next to you and try to bite the living poo poo out of the cat if it is on your lap instead of her! she is also my sidekick and has since turned her back on my cousin in favor of me because i'm like that uncle that spoils the kids rotten.

:siren::siren:please read the captions above each pic since they give insight to her personality and you can better understand what kind of maniac we are dealing with (and i mean that in the best way, you'll see!).:siren::siren:

when she is interested in what you are doing, you'll know it. i was making dinner when i looked down and saw bat dog and had to snap a pic :3:

suck it 2chains, we got FOUR CHAIIINNZZZZ.

some people might look at the following pic and be like "omg animal cruelty you sicko!" but believe it or not, she was not coerced. she loving LOVES wearing collars, clothes, whatever (evident by this pic AND the last pic, in which she is happy as can be!). that tupperware container you see just off to the left of her in the pic below? it's her closet. actually it's kind of like a "shoe" closet because it holds just her collars and she has another HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE OMG SO HUGE box of clothes for winter that she loves to wear! when i brought out her shoe closet she immediately buried her nose deep up to her eyeballs (she was already two paws in before i could even put it down!). i kept pulling them out and she kept putting her head through it! her belt was a collar that belongs to our German shepherd that i pulled out that was fastened to the biggest size and she stuck her head through but it was too big so she decided to accessorize and wear it as a dogge belt. she didn't let me get the pink collar on her all the way before she decided she was fully dressed and wanted to go attack the cat that ran into the room. she likes to look good during her own personal war. she's a fashionista!!

when you play fetch with her, she will stand like this while you are near her ball until you throw it. i am not kidding. i took this picture after she had been standing just like that for several minutes while I was outside on the phone. i'll try to take a video tomorrow and see who will cave first, her or me (she usually gets impatient with me and i win, but honestly it's about a 60/40 chance).

bad things can happen though. she plays ball by herself when no one is out there with her and gets into trouble sometimes. i walked out one day and she was having a nervous breakdown trying to get under the fence for her ball, which is the purple thing you see through the fence. don't worry, she wasn't stuck! she was just very determined.

after a good session of playing ball, Lady loves to nap. she is a great snuggle buddy and is comfortable in any position you put her in. she caters to YOUR sleep habits, which is strange for most dogs! she doesn't snore but she snorts like a piggy. i'll try to get a video of her doing that too because it's so :3::3::3:

she's also a really good navigator and loving LOVES LOVES LOVES car rides. If it wasn't so late I would take her somewhere just so I could take a video of her going bananas after hearing the phrase "wanna go for a ride?" Unfortunately there is a downside to this, but we'll get to that later.

LISTEN TO THE ROAR!!! you have to practically beg her to bark. she's too polite. instead she usually does this thing where, if you muted the video, you would be certain she was barking but no sound comes out :3:.

(sorry for it being upside down if it is. took it on my phone and don't know why it did that. i edited it in youtube but it takes a while for it to go into affect. that isn't the point of the video. the point of the video is....

:siren:PUT ON YOUR HEADPHONES AND TURN THEM UP AND BE PREPARED TO BE SCARED SHITLESS BY THE INTENSITY!:siren:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsyOlL4xhNI

when you watch these videos, make sure you turn the sound up, especially at the slow motion parts!! this next section is really long section because fetch is her lifeblood so there's a bit to talk about :3:

she lives to play fetch. the only thing that takes precedence over "where's your ball?" is "wanna go for a ride?" she would kill herself for fetch. she will neglect everything else including food, water, sleep (but not car rides!). if something goes flying past her (or not even that, you could be ten blocks away but if she sees you throw a ball) she loses focus of everything else on the planet and has one single mission. and she has no fear. if you fake her out she runs, but doesn't come all the way back and just gets in her stance that you saw in the pic. She is so fast that you almost can't throw a line drive past her without her jumping on it. one time she jumped in front of it and it hit her eye the wrong way i guess because she screamed. after she screamed she acted like nothing happened except that she COULDN'T EVEN OPEN HER EYE! i thought she had learned her lesson but noooo, she brought me a baseball one time. i wanted to throw it really soft because i didn't want to throw it too hard in the event that she got in front of it, but i tried throwing it fast enough that she couldn't catch up to it anyway. i misjudged her speed because she managed to get in front of it anyway and took a line drive to the face. she didn't scream about it, i think she was more insulted that that motherfucking bitch rear end piece of poo poo ball hit her in the face :ohdear: no more baseballs ever again after that! and that day she got hit with a tennis ball she didn't want to come inside so we could look at it and she moped from where she left her ball to the door because she was NOT done playing fetch (this is how it is every time i take her out). because of her love of fetch i play with her several times a day, sometimes until i think she's too tired. but i have to make that call because like i said, she will die for the game. she's also trained really well. if she brings you the ball and you're in a chair and you say "give it" and put your hand out she will put it politely in your palm. if she puts it in your lap and you ignore it she will pick it up and chew on it LOUDLY right in your face to remind you it's there. my cousin and i have joked that, even though lady is a crazy vicious stone cold killer, if someone walked into the house with ill intentions, if he brings a tennis ball not only will he get rid of Lady temporarily, she'll also be his best friend if he keeps on throwing! also look at how cute her ears are when they flop! :3:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIkDADP3qNk

when we are home, we like to play peekaboo. this is an even better shot of her floppy ears and the main reason i like this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghHR8xVbbCM

this is the main video that i wanted to post. every dog has a "thing" that makes them incredibly unique from other dogs. my sister's dog sings along to happy birthday, my mom's dog won't go poop if anyone is watching, and Lady.. welllll... i mentioned earlier that there was a downside to Lady being your navigator. the downside is that she is loving nuts! especially when it is raining! when it isn't raining she is attacking the air vent, licking it and whatnot. you can see me shoo her away (with a mighty gay looking motion imo) from chewing on the dash a little ways in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yVLgFc-8eE

now that i figured out the youtube thing (i was forced to because you can't upload slow motion videos directly from your phone unless you go through an elaborate workaround. i did a lot of work to bring lady into your lives gip!) i'll be taking a lot of videos of her and uploading them. so be on the lookout for them at my youtube channel! i also made an imgur account specifically for uploading pics of her! view it here!

is this post up to gip standards? :unsmith:

DUNSON'D
also some facts/stories about Lady! and since roughly 60% out of the 200-something pics on my phone are of Lady, i'll post some more pictures!

when she wants me to throw the ball every now and then i will pretend like i don't see her and it will drive her crazy! but she will relentlessly bother you with the most loving obnoxious cuteness i've ever seen until you throw it. and if you leave her outside but leave the front door open (we have a screen door that the dogs will come to when they are ready to come inside) she will stand by her ball and if she sees you walking out she will slowly lay down behind it, almost like she is prowling or something. she isn't, she's just trying to be adorable to get her way, and it usually works. the only time it doesn't is if i already have something i am doing, but 99% of the time if she is outside i'm going out there to either bring her in or play with her. in the very rare event she doesn't want to play ball, she will chase lizards, lounge in the cool dirt, or just sit next to me.

she is terrified of pistols. even pellet guns that look like pistols, pistol lighters, anything resembling a pistol. i'm surprised she isn't scared when someone does that gay gun thing with their hands (you know when they give you the "wink and the gun" or w/e). she takes off and hides if she sees it. nobody is for sure why, but we are 99% sure it's because my cousin's ex husband (emphasis on ex, ugh that guy was so bad to the dogs, but that's a sad story and this is a happy one!) was playing with his pistol drunk one day outside and lady was there. at the time they lived in a house that didn't have a fence in the back because it was bordered by the lake. well he handled his pistol like a pro and it fired and Lady TOOK OFF!!!! she jumped in the lake and swam across. luckily it wasn't a big lake so she made it across fairly easy. i happened to get to my cousin's a little bit later and she was out looking for her. took us two hours to find her. she swam across the lake into the neighborhood and got lost, but was sooooo happy when she saw us! i make sure she never sees my pistol. regarding my pistol, i treat her the same way i would a child and try to keep it out of sight out of mind!

we can't take her to the beach because she does nothing but drink the salt water and it makes her poop have the same consistency as what she drank. poor thing though, she loves it :smith:

also we made a rule that if she wants us to kick/throw the ball she has to put it on the sidewalk. it took her about two days before it became automatic! if she gets too tired

another shot of them ears :3: :3: :3: and sorry about my dirty toes which have a full time job kicking her ball across the yard for her, so i can never keep them clean throughout the day if i'm home since i'm a dumb floridian and we only ever wear sandals and Lady is just too cute to not give in to her demands!

she's really good about not bothering me if she wakes up before me in the morning. her first job in the morning, as with every dog just about, is to go potty. no matter what position she is laying in, this is the face i will instantly see when i say "you wanna go potty???" which is my way of telling her we are getting out of bed.

soo... sleepy... must... stay.... awake

also, that thing that looks like a pimple is a skin tag on her nose. it doesn't bother her. you can even pick it off and she doesn't give a poo poo. vet said it was up to us what we want to do with it, but she said it's not a big deal, so i picked it off of her. no whining, no crying, just her wondering what the gently caress i was doing to her. is there any way to get rid of it permanently? it keeps coming back.

who was the actress who was famous for not wanting close ups? Lady Bug isn't like that at all. Lady Bug gives no fucks.

when she sits sometimes she sits like a fatty and it's hilarious(ly cute). the vet has told us every time that she is a healthy weight, even telling us that since i moved in and play fetch with her so much she looks skinnier, though she hadn't lost an ounce.

If you look reeeeeeeaaaalllll close at her teeth, you can see she has a gap-tooth. it's the only time a gap tooth is :3:

here's a lovely quality blurry close up. even though it is absolute poo poo quality, her gap is still pretty easy to spot because it's so prevalent. it's soooooooo adorable :3: :3: :3:. also her sharp teeth either never grew in pointy or were filed down at one point.

i was actually late to class one day because she was sleeping on my lap and was so precious i didn't have the heart to wake her. i mean look at her guys!

she wants to be a porn star and hopes to make penthouse pet of the month one day. i think she has a shot! (she layed like this for about two minutes while i was doing something next to the bed. she only moved when i got up, otherwise she was trying to be whorey).

she is scared of thunder. when it thunders out she doesn't like to be on your lap or anything because she is too nervous and will just want to get up and walk around anyway. she never leaves your side, but she has this weird quirk of facing the wall when it thunders like she is in timeout or something. and also when we are cooking food and she smells something burning. it's kind of :3: but at the same time it's big time :smith: because i just want to make her feel better. i try to do things to distract her like play fetch inside or give her a treat or turn the tv up louder than it really needs to be or go lay in bed with her and let her take a nap with me there (her and my personal favorite option on a rainy day).

actually, she's really scared of any loud noises that are foreign to her. the garbage truck scares the bejesus out of her and i've done everything i can to make sure she isn't out there when they go by. today we were pressure washing the sidewalk and this is as close as she would get to the front door because she was too scared :ohdear:

and this is Lady's worst enemy (but really probably best friend) in the house. her name is CiCi and she's a 7 year old cat that my cousin rescued. she weighed almost nothing when my cousin got her but we've since fed her to the point where she has a fat roll that is out of this world. here she is hiding in my cousin's boyfriend's tuff box that had been open for all of two minutes. i think the cat has radar for spots like this because it never takes her long to find them no matter where she is or what she is doing.

she also has a weird fascination with water being poured. i tried to record the video long enough to show that she didn't actually drink any of the water and just wanted to watch me pour it. and that's exactly what happened. as soon as i walked away she went back into the bedroom and probably went to sleep. bonus cameo by Lady as well :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqnioRgjntI

part of her neurosis is the cat. it's ridiculous and obsessive. but i like it because i don't like cats (even though i have a soft spot for this one... sigh) and dogs rule and cats drool so when dogs get the best of cats i like it. plus the cat often times fights back and they will roll around on the ground wrestling and it's really cute.

yes, we are kind of egging her on in this vid, but it doesn't take that at all. she was at my cousin's feet as soon as she sat down with the cat and started whining, we just wanted to get her nervous breakdown on tape so we kind of teased her a little bit. it paid off for her though because as soon as we were done recording my cousin put the kitty down and Lady chased her all the way to the back of the house. it was rad :).

normally as soon as you walk over the pick the cat up, Lady is over there trying to bite the cat's head off in what i can only call a jealous fit of rage! also say hello to my cousin and her boyfriend. we were watching black people get arrested on tv, hence the blue lights at the very end of the video. i'll get a better video of her going bananas when you pick the cat up and show it ANY affection whatsoever later because you can bet i'll be taking more pics and vids of her because she is awesome like that. anyone have any theories on why Lady does that? just a jack russell thing?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ngZgM-D_ic

in this video we are egging her on only because there are no dogs barking on the screen. an old entertainment center got knocked over once. obviously it was a really lovely one, and in all honesty it was more of a one person dinner table type thing, but all my cousin had for a while had was a cable box on it so she didn't think she needed anything serious. that was until lady knocked that whole piece of poo poo entertainment center over and the cable box broke because of how insane she acts when there is a dog barking on the screen. below is just a small dose, it's usually way, WAY more serious than this. the funniest thing? she doesn't bark at other dogs in the neighborhood. she's a funny gal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx3Jcn57XWg

remember the takeoff stance?

i hope you didn't think i was joking about that.

and this is her right now waiting on me to go to bed. notice the blurry tail. the blurry tail is standard and there are only a few things that will prevent it, and it only works if it's something that she is intensely focused on (like her ball or when we are making her dinner) or if she is scared (like thunderstorms). otherwise her tail is going 90000000 miles an hour.

i don't have a scanner or i would scan the following pic but i did my best because i want you to see just how her face has changed in 13 years (and it's also an excuse to post more pics!

DUNSON'D
ok last new post til tomorrow or tomorrow night unless i respond to someone.

meet Raz. i think Raz is 13 or 14, i'm not sure. he's a pure german shepherd. Raz is also a funny dog in a sad kind of way. he was abused as a puppy, abused as an adult, abused by my cousin's ex-husband when he took him in (and his behavior towards animals is one of the reasons she divorced him -- why take a dog in if you're just going to be a bad owner???). Raz is the biggest baby i have ever seen in dog form, more on that in a bit. for now, say hello to this handsome man :)

now about his personality. he has a fear of doors because he would always get beat as he was walking in or out. he was being a bad dogge so i smacked him on the butt when he was walking back in from outside, not thinking about what it actually means to him, and i think he held it against me for like a week and wouldn't come through the door if i was standing in it (after only one time ever!) if you shuffle your feet even slightly while he is walking in or out, he will stop and possibly even turn around and stay wherever he was at. it's actually happened that i shuffled my feet because there was an ant on my toe and he refused to come outside for a bit.

when i first met him i didn't really know anything about him. he was laying on the ground one day and i went up and laid next to him. that closeness to anyone makes him stress out and he gets up as soon as he can. and oh holy poo poo don't try to hold him back. he won't bite. i've never even heard him growl. but the crying he does will break anyone's heart. it doesn't even have to be much. you could just touch him while he is getting up and i think he just assumes you are going to try to hold him hostage or something. space is a big deal to him when he is laying down. he needs it.

you can't touch his paws. if you do he freaks out. i've tried to do things to get him more comfortable with it, such as letting him eat a treat while i just pet his paws (which he freaks out about as well) but i haven't had much luck on helping him curb any of his anxiety issues. i think he's just too old to change at this point. you can't touch the inside of his ears (not even the ear canal or anything, just inside the big floppy ear ANYWHERE) or he freaks out. if i kick the ball for Lady and he is too close i guess he thinks i'm trying to kick him because that freaks him out. here's a video of me a few minutes ago just trying to lay a finger on them. had i actually grabbed his paw (which i never do anymore because he hates it so much) you would think he was being beaten.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhXk86xMRuQ

he typically lays in the corner of whatever room he is in, which is typically whatever room has no one else in it, and he hates it if you are blocking his path to the rest of the room and will wine until you move, and even if you aren't near him anymore you've frazzled him so much that he has to move spots, and a lot of times he has to move to a completely different part of the house!

he loves to go outside, but only long enough to do his business, then he is usually laying by the door waiting to be let back in. he doesn't play fetch. the only trick he knows is sit. but oh man is he a sweet pup. if you are sitting on the couch and you call him over he will come and just bury his head in your lap hard enough that it would knock you over if you were standing up. then he does this whining as you pet him. it's a different kind of wine though. it's like a "omg thank you so much" wine. when you've been around him for a while you know the difference.

he's a good guard dog to my cousin though. he watches her like a hawk. we were outside doing something and he was out with us. we let him go without a leash because he stays on my cousin's heels. Lady likes to explore, and on a few occasions has escaped when one of us left the gate open, so we don't let her go outside of the yard without a leash. anywho, the neighbors dogs came out and started going towards my cousin and raz flipped his poo poo and was gonna go after them! but he's a good dogge and as soon as we call him back he turns right around and is at my cousin's heels again. so he's a guard dog, but he's obedient as gently caress. i was double impressed with him that day.

i don't have nearly as many pics or videos of Raz as i do Lady because Raz kind of keeps to himself. when we are outside he isn't doing anything particularly interesting. like i said he's out there to do his business and come back in. he is a very photogenic pup though and i can get some good shots of him. when his ears perk up (usually only at dinner/treat/main potty times like first in the morning, first time going out after we have been gone all day, etc) they aren't quite as obnoxious as Lady's ears, but they are big and make him look kind of goofy.

he's a good pup. they both are :3:
