I really don't know the market for USSR-era Soviet shitboxes, and while $6000 seems a lot for what is by all rights a fairly terrible car, it's also not a lot of money for something that would be especially unique. If I had $6k I'd be temped, just to be able to say I've owned and driven one. Also, I'm guessing that's the fuel tank directly above the engine underhood? If so I'm loving that design element.

Trabis were East German, and the gravity fed fuel eliminated the need for a pump. Those things were so simple it's scary.

Wait for a cheaper one and then stick a 'busa engine in it. The results speak for themselves, I think: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DZ0W8AM9c8

Yeah I mean I have nothing in particular against offroading; jeeping around Moab looks amazing and even just a normal offroad course with some corners, steep climbs, etc. including a mud puddle or two could be tons of fun. Driving a piece of scaffolding with tires on it aimlessly around a broad featureless puddle in the hot sun... I really, really don't get it.

Craigslist listings with RARE, MUST SEE, WOW etc are always my favorites. It's great seeing people justify charging double market value for a heap of poo poo.

No poo poo. I don't doubt that's probably one of the best-condition LT1 fourthgens you'll see these days, and the LT1 was a pretty damned exciting thing when it came out... but now that's a car that will have to run its rear end off to not get spanked by a Camry. Just because it's the last one left without massively burnt paint / broken bodyparts doesn't make it any good these days. Also, gotta love how so much money went into the motor (VALVE COVERS) but there's not a single shot of it.

Rusty or not i thought it was cool that it drives. Most stuff from that era in that price range seem to include the lines ran when parked in 1973 or no motor/transmission.

Ha. When I posted my rust free (Florida Jeep) 99 Cherokee up in New York for 5 grand I got all kinds of scathing emails like YOU'LL NEVER GET THAT MUCH FOR A CHEROKEE YOU'RE AN IDIOT and CHECK KBB rear end in a top hat YOU'LL NEVER SELL IT. A week later I sold it for $4800 Not saying that Camaro is worth that (it's not), but the market dictates the price sometimes.
