I think csh had autocomplete first and is easier to get working than bash on Solaris. Also it's not ksh.

it is a ksh93 vs ksh88 thing. people who curse ksh have just been using a 1980s version, or are jackasses. the att svr4 ksh, the '93 edition, will sing dance and do all kinds of cool poo poo. it is a very nice shell, literally better than bash.

tcsh, the updated csh, is actually really really nice as an interactive shell. as a login shell, there is absolutely nothing bash does that tcsh doesn't.

nobody uses actual 1980s csh. (if you find an original csh user, shoot him and put him out of his misery)

Sure, you can configure some other shells to be almost as great, but fish comes working out of the box. Only negative is that years of muscle memory using bash's backtick operator can't turn into using parentheses to save my life... but it's worth it and I could patch that back in if I really cared enough.
