Assuming your enemy was unprepared, credulous, and stupid did wonders for this one's confidence, but it too was a foundation of smoke.

Jared slowly leaves the tower, initially reluctant with the urging of the dragon. Though once Lennithon is out of view Jared shakes himself free of the other dragon's influence. He follows the others down and out. When plans are bandied about he is all for climbing atop a building and raining destruction from above, but the plan seems to quickly change as the others realize there are some enemies in the smoke.

When the plan changes to rushing into the smoke he is less than thrilled.

It appears luck is on your side again with initiative.

The smoke causes everything to be lightly obscured (same as dim light) at close range, and heavily obscured (same as being blinded) to anyone further than 15' apart. Darkvision would normally let kobolds see in 'dim light' as if normal, ie no perception penalty. However, this is smoke, not darkness, so they are penalized too.

You need to beat a stealth check of 5 (their passive perception with disadvantage) to act in the surprise round. And an init of 6 to go before they do. Like that last fight, if you win at both stealth and init you take two turns. Get to murdering.

Remember you have advantage if hidden (surprise round only), and disadvantage if attacking from more than 15' (from the smoke). If you have both they cancel out.

Surprise round, attack vs human cultist. It may take some movement on your part to put Hager where he can get his bonus attacks seeing as some kobolds/cultists are dead but not reflected on map. Assuming there are even enough targets alive by the start of the turn proper.

Stealth isn't quite the word for it, but Hager certainly surprises a Cultist as he charges into the smoke. Like a linebacker he bulldozes into a Cultist and puts his whole body into crushing the man against the temple and knocking the wind out of 'em. He draws on his greatsword ready to finish the downed man, but just barely manages to recall Janelle's desire to capture one alive for questioning. A strike of his fist knocks the cultist fully out. Before a nearby Kobold can react, Hager slashes with his sword in one fluid motion, ending it quickly.

Normal round, attack vs Kobolds.
Attacking; GWF if applicable: 2#1d20+5 20 / 20
Minimum damage is 5

Carrying his momentum sees his blade flash into the remaining group of Kobolds, only now mustering a defense against the group. Steel slices through scales, leaving two more Kobolds dead.

Even from back here you can hear the battering ram at work. The front church doors are pretty hefty but they can't last long against that. You can also hear a few muffled shouts from within the church. And above it all is the cacophony of shouts from the parading kobolds.

Your murderous deeds went entirely undetected. With nothing but a pile of bodies surrounding the back door, and the fire still smoking, you have a moment or two to act before the mob comes around again.

Everything is dead. The back door is a DC15 to pick/bash. If you bash it anyone can get in, of course. Two rounds before the patrol arrives.

Between the unrelenting aggression of Ander and Hager, as well as the eerily accurate headshots regularly being lobbed by Janelle, Zedekiah found himself not even needing to lift a finger in the carnage at the back end of the church. He got an early start around the side of the building as a result, edging his way along the wall to prevent the enemy from spotting him until he and the others were upon them.

Everything was going smoothly until an intensely painful migraine struck him, causing him to reflexively bring a gauntlet-covered hand to the side of his head to soothe the pain. Unfortunately, this caused him to stumble slightly, as he had been using his spare hand to grip the wall to push himself along quietly, resulting in an unmistakable creak in his armor that the nearby kobolds and humans would assuredly hear. The worse of it, though, was that it felt like somebody had punched him in the brain, and he unfortunately knew exactly what the cause was: a sending spell cast by a particularly incompetent practitioner. He sighed, knowing that the enemy had been alerted to him, and also keenly aware that there was nothing he would be able to do to prevent the message from overpowering his sense of hearing with its words for the next few moments, distracting him and eliminating any hope of striking at the enemy before they could respond to his misstep. The message rang clear in his ears, despite the clamor of the fire, and the screams of terror from those inside the church: "Cousin, it's your cousin! Why don't you take me bowling? And afterwards we'll go get drunk, at the Blushing or the Splurging!"

He sighed again when his sense of hearing returned, now with a dozen kobold and human eyes trained on him and his comrades. Knowing he would have to respond to the summons if he didn't want to endure another casting, which might very well get him killed, he muttered a response in full view of the enemy, enunciating just loud enough for the spell to catch the return-to-sender message, "Roman, what the hell? Now is really not the time. I am kind of in the middle of a quite demanding crime." Standing there in a bloodstained suit of armor, his sword drawn and making eye contact with over half a dozen armed kobolds and humans - while talking to himself and seemingly in his own little universe - he couldn't even imagine what might be going through the heads of the enemy at the moment. Other than Janelle's life-ending acorns, naturally.

Nel wonders where the paladin's god was while he was struck down apparently in a single blow. She could intervene to bring him back to consciousness prone, disarmed, and surrounded, but it would probably shorten his life in the end, and waste her power besides. Instead she turns her attention to the messenger kobolds. It'd be better to slow them down so the men on the ground would have time to clean up the rammers before ascending to defend the high ground with the little brother and her.

It was also likely that the patrollers heard the bigger brother's shout or the rest of the commotion, with any luck their leader's order would be lost in the smoke as long as the ranged attackers stayed quiet from their perch.

In so saying, he sticks the prone man in the throat with his longsword, ensuring his death but ending his suffering.

With that business concluded, and expecting the enemy patrol to round the southern corner of the church rather soon, he begins dragging Ander towards the front doors, giving them both another few moments before they are fully spotted. Nel hears the gurgles of a man seconds from death. A man who patronized her on how to heal someone you didn't like. Right back at you, she thinks. "Succulent as blood, Sweet as power," she chants in Druidic, creating a handful of slightly glowing chokecherries. She makes her way to the edge of the roof above him, plucks one from the bunch and drops it into his mouth as he lies there, wounds left open by his fellow fighting men. That settled what little question remained in the druid's head of whether these men could balance life and death. Negative.

"Yip! Don't let em get away! Backup is coming!"
"Screw you! Look what they did to Jim!"

The trio of kobolds on the left side turn and flee at full speed. The one facing Hager fakes out a swing, then hops backwards and leaps over the wall, running into the night.

Meanwhile, at the rear of the temple, the sounds of chaos turn into shouts of alarm. Nell's precise ears can tell that someone discovered the bodies at the back door. Hager can see a large group of enemies rounding the corner to the south. They will be here in moments.

The road north leads further into town. Next to the temple door is the discarded battering ram, which made decent progress on forcing the door.

Are you in or are you out?

"Too many enemies, and more are on the way. All of you get up here, cut across the building, and either try to sneak in and out the back of the temple or just run for the trees." Still leaning over the side of the roof, she reaches out to help people climb up. Her ears twitch, and she adds, "They split up, we might be able to get the jump on the new smokers."

The wall is 20' tall. Climbing costs +5' movement, so you need 40' to get up it. Don't worry about climbing checks since there are plenty of handholds and Nell is assisting. But do specify which squares you end up in this round. Standing from prone costs extra too (15' of movement).

Hager [Info/Quicklook]
HP: 3/13 (1HD) | AC: 14 | Rages: 1(2)

With his head back on straight, Hager slams himself against the wall of the temple, ready to climb. Hager's good with climbing trees as part of his past professions - given, with the right equipment - but a wall was a different matter. Still, plenty of grips see him a clear path to the top.

With Dash givin me 60ft to use, moving to P33, Up the wall, move over a few squares to Q30. Think that covers it.

Jared gives his brother a nod and a "welcome back" as Hager scrambles up the wall. Then he watches the fleeing kobolds, and maintains the magic he had unleashed on the leading cultist, moving it from the cultist's fallen form to the nearest fleeing kobold. Then he blasts the kobold in the back with another blast of eldritch energy.

Bonus action to transfer Hex to the nearest fleeing kobold (disadvantage on strength checks)

"The next time you come up with an utterance that involves you whining like a spoiled brat, keep it to yourself or I'll beat your rear end," thinks the druid to herself. Gotta stay quiet if they wanted to give the hounds the slip. One beating looked like all Ander could take, anyway. Nel's economical with her words.

"Smith, grab me that scimitar before you come up, I'll take credit for the kills here and lead the enemy on a wild goose chase. You wounded eat these berries and rescue the people in the temple after I've drawn them off, I'll try to unlock the door in the smoke for you but no promises."

With her plan said, she creeps into the smoke and listens for enemies. If they sensed her, she'd sense them sensing her.

Moving to V25 after delaying so people can climb up and distributing goodberries, then stealthing in the smoke/darkness.
