just a reminder regarding stat allocations: {SH}IELDING: related to damage mitigation. For the cost of 3 statpoints, grants -1 damage from melee sources, and -4 from ranged. However if a shield is ever shot with a (very rare) lasgun, the shooter and the victim both explode, killing them both and dealing damage to their entire formation rank. Shields cannot be used at all in Deep Desert battlegrounds. it's basically an item purchase that costs 3 statpoints.

Remember that the other thread chooses the raid area this time, so having a good variety of dudes will be good. Especially non-shielded ones so half our thread doesn't get swallowed by worms on the first battle. Me? I'm a coward and shouldn't be in battle at all, but I could man the front lines in a pinch, I guess.

We should know for a fact our deep desert fights have no shields, but we should only assume our normal fighters have shields. I know for a fact there are going to be a few of you, and I trust your judgement in this, where having no shields will make you more efficient.
