I woke up at 3am, wide awake. I was trying to figure out why, then I remembered that TPB was back! Someone in the Netflix thread posted that the new movie, Don't Legalize It was also up, but that's not showing up for me.

love this OP

Excited to start this season later today. Don't Legalize It isn't showing up for me on Netflix but I definitely recommend watching it because it's very good.

My name is Oliver Queen...
Whoops, that was me that posted about Don't Legalize It. Guess I misread an article or something.

The good news is it doesn't look like the plot of the movie plays that much into Season 8, so you won't miss much if you just start the season.

Just started and yeah, it doesn't really matter about Ricky having a medical marijuana growing license because he'd just be doing it anyway, but they haven't specifically mentioned it.

I love Ricky's hash coins.

Is that cooking spray?

Ricky thinks it's hair shellac.

Haven't got to watch it yet, is it actually good? Season 7 was terrible imo, but if it's more like the earlier seasons then great.

That poo poo with J-Roc's crew playing freeze dance had me laughing out loud. Also the hating on the Eagle flag :911:

Just finished the season, thought it was okay. I think my biggest complaint is that pretty much every major character seemed like an angry, squabbling rear end in a top hat.

Halfway through and I like it but the emotional music over some of the Trinity scenes is really strange.

Blacks in the back.
Is the movie going to be in any theaters at all? I looked and did not see it. I don't expect it to make the megaplex down the street, but is it getting any theater release? I got my Lahey costume ready to go.

I watched the first 7 episodes last night with some drinky poos. I thought it was pretty good. So far it is better than the over the top ridiculousness of the last two seasons.

That new assistant trailer park supervisor is creepy. Not the funny sort of creepy like Lahey and Sam the caveman, the awkward kind of creepy.

Part of why I'm watching this is because I wanna see how the actors aged. No one looks that different aside from some new wrinkles and gaining weight but Barbara Lahey, Jacob and especially George Green are unrecognizable.

I miss Phil Collins. :(

I wasn't expecting so much Randy/Mr. Lahey actual, literal relationship drama, but it was amazing. Jordan annoyed me at first but then I think I fell under his/her spell just like Randy.

Jacob is no Trevor though, goddamn it.

Wait, what?
I thought this was much stronger than the last couple of seasons. There are a few things I didn't really like though. I always felt like Conky was the worst thing the show ever did, and it really went downhill after they introduced that bit, so it was a little disappointing that they brought the same kind of thing back again. I also thought the ending sequence in the jail went on way too long.

Overall though, I'm glad this season happened, and I actually think Jacob was funnier than Trevor was. It definitely reminded me of older seasons, and everyone really seemed to be having a great time with it.

I had no idea they were even filming new seasons, let alone releasing it on Netflix so suddenly, so this was a huge surprise for me. I'm 6 episodes in, and overall, I'm loving it. Bubble's Shed and Breakfast, the return of Cory, J-Roc and the Roc Pile expanding their brand to flavored vodkas (we ain't mahfu-CAWS, we mahfuckas), the Lahey/Randy/new creepy assistant trailer park supervisor love triangle, and the boys getting high like old times and Ricky robbing the drugstore for crab shampoo and "fenus" pills; it's all great stuff. I think it's a huge improvement over season 7. But,

If you're referring to Orangie, I agree with you. The only real funny thing that has come out of that bit was Cory and Jacob's attempt to replace him at the supermarket and mall. Also, is it just me, or does it feel like they went out of their way to make Ricky even dumber than he already was? Is that even possible, or is it just that I haven't watched this show in a few years? It seems like Rob Wells has been laying on the "Rickyisms" a bit too thick so far this season.

Trevor's departure in the show is perfect.

"I was hanging out with Trevor in NYC, we were going to see the Backstreet Boys, he got on a subway train by accident and I never saw him again."

Also, the He-Man jokes were the best.

I agree with you that the amount of Rickyisms was way higher than usual. But I liked them.

They're leaning on his malapropisms a bit more than usual, but he's by no means any more stupid than in the past. Or let's say he is, but he's a hell of a lot smarter than anyone I've ever known who's committed their lives to dope and liquor with the gusto he has. Plus, all of the electrical shocks and head injuries. By that metric, he's a regular Stephen Jay Hawkings.

Well, crap. That was a lot better than S7. It felt true to form almost all the way through. Couldn't get enough of anything to do with the Shed and Breakfast and Julian's bar.

I'm fuckin pissed! I swear to gently caress, Randy lost weight. Is the guy who plays Donald related to Pat Roach? They look so much alike.

Aside from that, great season. I feel like it did better a few episodes in. I love how Bubbles could never hurt anyone but The Green Bastard can take Ricky down. Sebastian Bach is the man and Corey was way more arrogant, this season.

Sam and Cyrus teaming up made complete sense. "NURRR HA! Hey look everyone, fahkin Sam can't even read!"

The best part of the whole season was how they've stuck to the brand "Liquorman's" for ol Jimmy boy's booze.

Overall I think this season was better than seasons six and seven. Lahey was in exceptional form, as was Ricky. The season seemed a lot more explicitly sexual than it did in the past, which I don't know if I really cared for.

Still is a must watch.

How so? I remember lots of early episodes that included porn, strippers, Randy and Lahey roleplaying, Ricky and Lucy "banging." Lots of talk of hookers relating to Ray's trucker experience.

This may or may not be correct.

I guess this might be the first time there's been straight-up nudity, if only for one quick scene. Not including the first movie.

Great season. I'll be interested to see if they can keep up this level of quality. This is probably better than the show has been since Season 4 or 5, with a lot of the high points of the later years still intact, like Sebastian Bach.

Considering how many times Ricky has been shot, electrified, hit his head, fallen off things, hit by cars, and legally declared dead for several minutes it's a small wonder he's able to talk and walk at the same time.

Also I really enjoyed Season 8, which to me was surprising because season 7 was so awful it basically turned me off from the whole deal (although I did end up really enjoying Don't Legalize It).

I really liked the season overall. It felt more like the old seasons and less like the ones after they left the actual trailer park and just built sets.

Obviously I missed Trevor, and I loved when they addressed his absence semi-directly

I thought Julian was the one actor that visibly aged the worst out of anyone, though Lucy gave him a run for his money. Everyone else looked exactly the same so it didn't feel like a bunch of old timers doing a reunion show

Liquorball sandwich was the best Lahey bit in a long time

The ending didn't make much sense to me. I don't understand how Lahey ended up with Sam's shares out of nowhere

J-Roc was hilarious and I would have liked to see more of him

All in all, I thought it was a solid return to form and I don't regret watching it all in a day. I'd love to see more
