The best case scenario is that all four of the drivers in the GAME SEVEN or whatever they want to call the stupid championship race crash in the first lap.

I can't wait to see a driver win a race and then DNF in the other two races that round but still advance because of the win, knocking out a driver who actually deserves to advance. loving hell, NASCAR. You stupid fucks.

You know that it's going to play out perfectly for NASCAR, they're gonna get all the manufactured drama they want and have that wonderful Game 7. This will justify the Chase further and keep it alive for another ten years while it continues to be hot trash.

I'll give that it's going to make things more interesting, but that doesn't mean good, and all the extra unnecessary complexity and opportunity for someone like Gordon or Earnhardt to be eliminated well before the last race (1 bad race could very well screw you completely in a round) is just going to run more fans out.

I'm not saying it's going to be actually good, because it won't, because the system is inherently terrible. But I get the feeling it's going to play out exactly how NASCAR wants it to for at least this year.

I really want Biffle, Newman, or Kenseth to win the title, because it would poo poo all over the "wins mean everything" Chase, and I'd laugh really hard. edit: Also, I love how NASCAR technology is not advanced enough yet to designate the Chase drivers into a separate points bracket than the non-Chase drivers. Instead, they're all given 2000 base points plus 3 for each win and kept in the same championship standings. L_Harrison fucked around with this message at 18:56 on Sep 8, 2014 |

As dumb as the Chase is, at least I could accept it if we knew who the champ was going to be going into Homestead because that's how 10 races played out. Now, we have a four way tie BECAUSE WE HAVE TO HAVE AN ALL OUT RACE TO THE DEATH (Junior liked that phrase on Twitter) TO DETERMINE OUR CHAMPION AND RAM THE HELL OUT OF THIS SQUARE PEG INTO A ROUND HOLE. I hope Jeff Gordon doesn't show up to my house this week hoping to explain this to me, because I'm out of town and it'd be cool to meet him. On that note, does "trips to fans' houses to explain an awful point system" count under NASCAR's Community Service program for rulebreakers?

I do like the idea that the new system is dumb and complicated enough that they need people to sit down and explain it, and that they are advertising this.

The best thing that can happen is that it rains in Homestead right after the race is official.

I still don't understand why NASCAR didn't go with a premiership type system where you have the big year long prize and a few different sub cups (Maybe break the season into 4 parts while keeping the last race out of any sub cup.) You'd get 5 points races a year, 5 trophies to apply a sponsor to, make weeks off mean something and so on. None of this hyper points reset every 4 races...

I think a really good points system would be if you get an amount of points in a race for finishing well and then the guy with the most points is the champion

What if at Homestead the final 4 are unable to start the race

go3 posted:What if at Homestead the final 4 are unable to start the race I was wondering about that too. Championship leaders Bobby Allison (1983), Dale Earnhardt (1993), and Jeff Gordon (1995) prepared for that by having their backup cars entered into the season finale with Jimmy Insolo, Neil Bonnett, and Jeff Purvis driving, respectively. This way, if the title contender's car didn't start, they could jump into the backup. I wrote an opinion piece predicting the Final Four would do this at Homestead - and maybe other Chase drivers would use them to manipulate the points system in the other nine races. With so many technical alliances with small teams today, I wouldn't rule it out.

Let me really make this interesting and a little bit of a stretch to get these drivers but what would happen if say the final 4 were Gordon, Johnson, Earnhardt, and Kahne and all of their cars poo poo the bed. Is it a foot race into the SHR cars and last one gets Danica's car?

This is only like 4-5 small photoshop touches from being a gay porn cover. You'd just healbrush out the 'GAN' & 'I', change the 'S' to a 'P', open up the firesuits to the navel on twink #1 and #2, change Comfort Revolution to RUSH Poppers or Gun Oil, stick a "2 Full-Throttle Hours" stripe on the corner and get that up onto the nations truckstop porn shelves.
