My gut instinct is that the amount of demonic/undead enemies in postgame is enough to justify the lower base damage of the battleaxe (especially with those resists), but I wouldn't know for sure. I mean, now that weapon weight is gone, I'd just carry both, use the holy one by default, and swap out for cold vulnerable/cold blooded/tough, non-demonic/undead enemies.

The battleaxe does more against hell beasts, who are neither vulnerable nor resistant to cold. The executioner's axe will win against things rC- like balrugs.

It's actually pretty close either way. I would just use the battleaxe.

I'll also just note that someone's been refactoring code like a mad man this weekend. I don't code beyond non-functional toys, but it's fun to see people work through a huge existing code base, hammering out stuff that offends them.

It's the stats change, and personally I think the -4 stats is a little bit too much of a tradeoff (hiss, PF, hiss) since it puts them at only 3 stats-from-XL ahead of Human -- aside from their 10 bonus stats at startup, anyway.

It'll differentiate Dgs from each other, sure, but it'll differentiate them less from everyone else. Having lots of every stat sort-of made the kind of "adapt to everything" thing Demigods have to do viable.

I'd say leave their stats the way they were and give them better aptitudes...

Most of that stuff has been sitting around for weeks (months, in some case) - the feature freeze meant that I couldn't push anything nontrivial to trunk since the beginning of August, and I left the country right before the tournament (and the code freeze) ended, so that added another two weeks before I could push.

Nice to finally have it in, though! Expecting a lot of exciting fun bugs introduced by all those changes. (And maybe a few new features...)

I seem to remember there's a command, like how Ctrl-X shows you a list of all objects in LOS, but for a whole floor. Does this exist, or am I driving myself insane with false memories?

Also, ". && foo" doesn't work, but you can filter to the current floor with ctrl+f @foo

I actually think dual-wielding could work as an aux attack but it's one of features that's been ruled out.

I still think implementing and balancing dual wield would be trivial, while also providing a niche for low-delay "crap" weapons later in the game. Seriously, considering only half the features they've added&removed in the past year, the observance to some old hardline stance on dual wielding is... odd.

Edit: oh yea, and makes weapon crosstraining a cool feature

Eh, it's really a gamble. What were you planning on acquiring? You'd pretty much be giving up two specific acquirements for a bunch of completely random ones. I'd hold onto the scrolls if there's something specific you need that isn't notorious for Okawaru acquirements (I acquired 4 wands of lightning in one game trying to get healing :argh:), but if you've got a good kit together and are mostly just taking opportunities to upgrade as they come, I dunno, flip a coin or something.

(Someone with knowledge of this game's absurdly opaque mechanics please tell me how wrong I am)

I've got boots of running (Made oki worthwhile), wands of healing, haste, tele, invis, all the weapons I really need, my armor is +6 plate {+Blink +inv slay+3}, all the spells a fighter could want (haste at 6%, phase shift at 3%, spectral weapon 1%).

I don't exactly know what I'd acquire. Jewelry I guess. I'm wearing a necklace of rage, ring with {wiz rC++} and ring of regen, but I haven't found a ton of basic jewelry, so I'd probably end up getting sustain abilities or something. I'll stash the scroll for now. Troves are fun.

(that armor I found in a shop pre-lair, btw. Haven't found anything close to it since, unless I wanted to start blasting. I do have 2 manuals of ice magic...)


EDIT: hey, here's another question: does invocations affect oki abilities other than pass/fail? I have a manual of invo, so I've been training it but I'll turn it off if not. Finesse is at 1%.

That same vault killed my last attempt at a winner in the tournament. Turns out mimics were actually pretty deadly if you get constricted after stepping into range of 4-5 of them. Not anymore now!

Yes, duration. Finesse at 1% is usually the point I turn it off for Oki tho, diminishing returns for exp and all that.

2/3 levels, no random stat boosts (so a stat of your choice at level 2,3,5,6...26,27).

there's a suggestion to change it to double-stat-ups on levels 3/6/9, which has a pleasing elegance, but I don't really feel strongly enough to change it (again)
