he'll wait to see where the whole cryptocurrency idea goes, then he'll muscle-in on someone else's altcoin project, insist that it be called gnu/whatevercoin, and steer it down some ideological dead-end just like all his other projects. then ten years later he'll be telling everybody he was there from the beginning and that he was personally instrumental in the whole idea

He can always bury the gold somewhere hidden, then nobody can make him give those back either.

And to steal millions of dollars in bitcoin you would need access to those just as with cash. Even if bitcoin becomes successful it makes little sense for a business to own more bitcoin then they own cash currently.

Remember, if his theft is illegal enough that the country that he ran too agrees that it is illegal he will never be able to spend his coins.
I think you are overestimating the effects of tumblers, traffic analysis seems to to work pretty well there so his accounts will be identified once he cashes in a substantial amount.

bitcoins are just as secure as cash at best, in that if you generate your private key offline and store it well and secretly enough, nobody can steal it. just like a coffee can full of dollars! kept in the freezer, of course, what thief would look there?

like i was trying to tell that dummy (i stopped), it's way, way easier to flee the country with a thumb drive with a private key than it is to flee with a duffle bag full of cash

Erik Voorhees Explains Why Some Bitcoin Companies are Blocking American Users
http://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/post/erik-voorhees-explains-why-some-bitcoin-companies-are-blocking-american-users

whole lot of lol but this bit in particular

quote:

Preventing Innovation in the United States

When speaking about the unseen side effects of these licenses and regulations, Voorhees pointed to an issue that Charlie Shrem also talked about in a recent discussion with Marc Hochstein. Voorhees noted, “[Entrepreneurs] often won’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on legal advice, so what [are they] to do? America certainly used to be the land of innovation, but it cannot be said to hold that title anymore.” To expand on Erik’s point, innovation, in any market, usually comes from smaller competitors. As Shrem pointed out in his talk with Hochstein, “[The innovation in the Bitcoin space is coming] from the smaller guys that are running their businesses out of their basements.”

only with bitcoin would a grown man admire another grown man for knowingly laundering drug money, structuring around aml and kyc and then be all like "whaaa? i thought this was america, buddy, im an innovator!"
