I know people are for and against the Gucci Frankentapes but you have to at least give the guy credit for work ethic. How long was this guy in the studio that his engineers were able to cobble together like 8 decent-sounding albums in the space of a few months? I'm late but I usually enjoy music more after the fact than in the hype. I feel like NY rappers shouldn't make such similar sounding music with those weird beats and stuff.

Relatively unknown dude Misogi put out a really good instrumental album. Clearly gets the Team Sesh seal of approval, its got a BONES track and a track featuring Kid HNRK. If you don't mind vocals I'd also look at Yung Lean, Gorgeous Children, and Khalil Nova. Also Little Ugly Mane. There's a couple things that also seem like they would fit that I'm not recalling now but a lot of this stuff has been pretty popular recently that I'll add if I remember. And by "popular" I mean "lots of dudes getting 1k views are making it". Since you mentioned vaporwave I'm gonna assume you know about dudes like Ferraro and Oneohtrix Point Never. It's also vaguely similar to some of the "purple" dubstep stuff I was getting into for awhile. For a "darker" take of what I see as similar stuff, check The Haxan Cloak.

AOTP's "Heavy Lies the Crown" released late last night/this morning. I like it better than the other album they released this year, "In Death Reborn." The beats are better and there are a lot more memorable clever one-liners that I expect from that crowd. Worth picking up if you like AOTP.
