I can sympathize with raw milk crazies because farm fresh milk is amazing, especially if the cream was never scooped off the top and you can stir it back in, at least until you get a batch of milk from the cow who made it into the onion patch. also getting pathogenic ecoli from their poo poo-stained teets

the bitcoiners' "threat" to go to a competitor is always funny because every other competitor has never accepted bitcoin in the first place and never will, so exactly what message do they think they're sending? other than "never accept niche nerd pretend money"

gyft is a giftcard buying service that has an app to display the giftcards you buy through them. they sell gift cards to a lot of major stores, like amazon, target, home depot, etc. bitcoiners like it, because they can buy a giftcard to a place and buy something with the giftcard, and then brag "i just bought combos pizza flavored pretzels, with bitcoin!" it also feels less dirty than selling their bitcoins for FIAT. there are a lot of other gift card stores, and gyft isn't even on the first page of google results if you search for a place to buy a gift card. however, they were one of the first few places to sell gift cards in exchange for bitpay payments. bitcoiners also really liked that they had a "3% discount" for bitcoin, although it was actually a point system where you'd need to save up enough points to buy another gift card, with the smallest card you can buy being $10. so if you spent $334 or more dollars on gift cards paid with bitcoin, congratulations, you finally get $10 to reward you for all that extra time and hassle using bitcoin and paying for poo poo with gift cards. bitcoiners like to assume the 3% discount is because bitcoin is so much cheaper to process and there are no chargebacks. now gyft is offering steeper discounts to other payment processors, and bitcoiners are deeply confused, as bitcoin is supposed to be better than the competition. and yes, it is all denominated in dollars. why do you ask?

TVarmy posted:yep, i just checked. their faq is ambivalent, as it says they accept bitcoin at the rates from bitpay's website. so, to "shop at walmart with bitcoin", you send bitcoins to bitpay, who then pays gyft for a giftcard, which you can then use at walmart (which they sometimes don't take) the best case scenario is like a money laundering wet dream of misdirection
