I'm thinking, wow, this is incredible, imagine the old days in a mining disaster where 30 guys would just starve or choke to death stuck in a mine, or lay crushed for hours. Bitcoin saves lives

Quote from: seriouscoin on November 05, 2014, 09:37:34 PM SP-T, did the owner contact you regarding this? : What is the source of fire? All 5MW miners burned down. I believe he said they're all SP30 Looks like an amateurish setup for one just a few things i see : -horrible cabling work - i would not be surprised if the cables didnt catch fire first and all that stacked rubber just fed the fire. -machines are stacked on top of each other generating even more heat : for that many machines you should use real racks with the proper spacing btw units -where the Fk is the fire suppression units or at least sprinklers up top, i see no evidence of the duct work you would need to have for a proper halon or water suppression system -looking at the floor all i can say is no no no. -if you look some of the units are facing the opposite direction from the others which indicates they were not doing any kind of venting of all the heat those units generate via some sort of turbine system. these units generate a ton of heat bra heck my dryer went and out i don't miss it my SP30 drys all my cloths faster than my dryer lol. No way anyone would insure that much equipment with a setup like they better start begging for SP30 coupons from SP TECH or call it a total loss. I would have paid money to see all that BTC flare up though I just hope no one died

they must have had people involved in setting that thing up who had some limited expertise in data centre operation, like enough to know how to wire poo poo together but not competent enough that the incredibly unsafe and hacky way they were doing things (we don't need cooling or fire suppression systems, this is the technology of the future!) rang alarm bells i think that bitcoin ventures attract people of that type - people who know a bit about a thing but not enough to really do everything fully correct. because of the general principle that if you properly know what you are doing (in wiring a data centre/setting up a website that handles money/etc), you're probably able to see why bitcoins are a bad idea, or at least perceptive enough to see that they won't go anywhere with the community around them as it is.
