Domo Genesis is really underrated. His verse on Rusty is the best thing on Wolf, though that's kinda faint praise.

Domo is probably the only one I'll listen to regularly, I like him on the features he did on a few Gibbs tracks over the years. "Robes" is next level for how silky smooth that track is.

Before I leave, Quavo calls me over and asks a question that takes me by surprise. "You feel like we'll be here for a long time?" I look at him kind of stupidly, because the truth is I can't be sure, and when I automatically start to say, "Yes, of course," he interrupts me. "Don't just say it just because, man." Then, after a beat, Quavo asks me again: "How long? How long you think we gonna last?"

So TheStand4rd is a local group that's starting to get some heat. They sold out their NYC show and a couple others. They dropped their album today or yesterday. Haven't checked it but I thought some of you would like it because it's a supergroup including Spooky Black, Psymun, Allan Kingdom, and Bobby Raps.

Earl Sweatshirt - 45 prod. by Alchemist
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUTl4nGACd4

Earl sounds different, drat. I actually really like this track, Earl sounds a lot more 'lively' than on all of his latest poo poo. I don't know if he has anything upcoming planned, but I'd love to hear some more of him just rapping over tracks produced by people like Alchemist. Too bad it's so loving short(?? might be a cut). The beat is a little too loud and goes over Earl's voice though.

An ape.
The new Joe Budden EP Some Love Lost is miles above that garbage he put out last year. I know Joey gets no respect around these parts, but it's only 7 tracks and it's reminiscent of why the internet fell in love with him in the first place. And I don't know if he gave up smoking or what, but his voice sounds less throat cancer.

Anyway, that's my last Budden plug for the year.

I don't either, but he's trying to make money (and in turn, make them money). Also I don't think that stuff is automatically horrible, it just depends on what (if anything) they end up doing with different production styles or w/e.

Also I've not listened to their new tape seriously yet, but going through I didn't hear one bad song. Gonna have to see how it holds up but yeah, it's real good at first listen.

edit-the Migos tape is amazing. I'm liking it better than either YRN or No Labels 2. Seriously not a bad song on here. Also after listening a bit I'm not sure if the EDM/pop production would be bad for them. Their flow naturally has a lot of the whole build up-breakdown structure. I also give them credit for stretching their subject matter a bit.

Pretty much all of the stuff I've thought was good this year has been more towards the cerebral/"soft" side (depending on how you feel about Lucki Eck$) and it's nice to have an album that balances that a bit. I'll probably reexamine a bit later to see if I still like it as much but it's easily one of the best releases this year.

Yeah I've seen dudes bring that up and I don't see it at all. There's nothing really non-abrasive about RTJ and nothing any dude who's not already into rap is gonna wanna bother with.

This is not an obscure term (at least in rap), especially if you've listened to either RTJ albums.

I have, I guess I'd never noticed it before. Probably because I have mostly listened to the two albums while commuting.

That said being a west coaster, rap has exposed me to all kinds of Philly & Boston slang I'd never heard either.
