Well then. Hopefully this doesn't change upcoming tour plans. I was getting pretty pumped about seeing Angus and the boys again.

Yep, insufficient evidence. Still facing a "threatening to kill" charge though, as well as the drugs (which could kill any chance of another world tour for him).

It's kind of funny - Angus is the craziest one on stage, but he doesn't drink, do drugs, or even have a driver's license. Phil is known for having a basic, mechanical drumbeat, but HE'S the fast-living, woman-beating druggie! :cheeky:

Less than 3 weeks until the new album comes out!

Here's a pretty revealing article with Rolling Stone on everything that's been happening. Their drummer situation is up in the air, but by the sound of things, everything is going to be OK. Phil almost didn't record on the album, and when he did, he just seemed to be going through the motions. The new songs are credited to Young-Young which means they come from riffs Malcolm had a hand in coming up with, and according to Brian, Stevie worked his rear end off to get the rhythm down-pat:

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/acdc-malcolm-young-phil-rudd-rock-or-bust-20141114

I need to put aside money for concert tickets. This could very well be their last tour with the way things are going.

Hahaha, this is fantastic. I love Angus so much. Like many others, I bought a guitar because of him too.

Oh God, if they play stuff from Powerage, Flick of the Switch, or Fly on the Wall when I see them, I will lose my poo poo.

So Best Buy has this bad boy sale for $12.99, but I got them to price-match Amazon at $9.97:

The cover is holographic with the logo exploding as it moves, which is very cool, but nothing beats the small tribute to Malcolm. Speaking of, he's all over this record. I can just tell he came up with some of these riffs and wouldn't even tell he's missing unless I opened up the booklet, which shows Stevie has the Young guitar chops and then some. Phil, on the other hand, has exactly two pictures in the booklet (one being a head shot) neither of which are included with the band. Hiring hitmen and doing drugs are way cooler than having your picture taken with your longtime bandmates, I guess.

First impressions: Better than Black Ice by a mile; probably their best since Razors in 1990 (which isn't hard to say since I personally consider Ballbreaker and Black Ice their weakest material so the only other post-1990 studio competition is Stiff Upper Lip).

The songs are tighter, the grooves are infectious, and "Rock or Bust" and "Play Ball" sound better with the added fidelity from the disc. My favorite song by far right now by far is "Baptism By Fire", which miraculously reaches "Safe in New York City" levels of tempo. THAT's the kind of stuff I want to hear from these guys and I can't wait to scream it with 10,000 other people next year until I lose my voice. The only songs that didn't really grab me on the first spin were "Dogs of War" (cool fade-out though) and "Sweet Candy".

All-in-all, very cool album. Turn this one up LOUD.

Very good read. I didn't think Angus was that critical of himself. Everything he does looks effortless, but considering the family he grew up in and playing guitar almost non-stop since the 70s...yeah.

I don't think he has to worry one bit about fans "accepting" the new album. It rocks. It's under 40 minutes long, but not a single note is wasted.

And no, Rolling Stone, Flick of the Switch was anything but a "pale followup".

Confirming that this is a Good Album™. Some faster stuff like back in the day would be nice but it's enjoyable the way it is. Hopefully they'll do a European tour and I'll be able to make it this time :(

Dunno if anyone caught this in the AMA thread, but this was the first time I saw this video of Angus dealing with an rear end in a top hat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjBOg50EDqw :bravo:

It'll be interesting to see if he ends up on the tour, much less back in the band, considering his poo poo attitude recording the album and all the bad press. AC/DC seemed pretty neutral on the whole matter publicly.

They should just get a drum machine to cover the parts and put up a life-size cardboard cutout of Rudd and his kit on stage. Nobody would know the difference.
