That would've happened whether he was there or not. Boullier's greatest accomplishment was convincing Ron Dennis he can do anything other than delay putting news out.

of much greater importance than boullier or michael individually is the fact that mclaren now have three people doing what was previously whitmarsh's job. whitmarsh might have actually been competent, who knows, but he was saddled with far too much responsibility.

The V8 noise was not what people watched F1 for.

There was just as much whinging when they got rid of the v10's but everyone forgot about that too. THe v8 was just noise. The v10 was glorious.

I'm sure the teams are going to love the fact that they spunked millions on developing new engines and then Bernie says. Dont worry lads, you can use the old v8s again.

There are plenty of other motorsports that have loud naturaly aspirated engines still, F1 isnt one of them anymore. So I guess maybe if you bitch hard enough about it in the F1 thread on the comedy website forums you might get the old engines back.

I thought they dont realy make power over the 10k rev limit anyway in current guise? Or is it purely just the fuel restrictions doing that?

How I understand it:

They're allowed to rev up to 15k but the instantaneous fuel flow rate restrictions are such that there's no point going over 10k (you can't deliver additional fuel over 10k rpm but the internal friction goes up so power output goes down). The benefit of that is that the hard rev limit no longer kills the benefit of an aerodynamic tow as was the endemic problem under the previous engine regulations. The reason for having a fuel flow rate restriction (rather than just the overall kg per race allowance) is they discovered in endurance racing that the best way to save fuel while keeping a decent lap time is to floor it at the start of a straight then coast the second half; this can cause dangerous closing speeds between drivers in different fuel saving strategies (think Webber driving in to the rear of the backmarker in Valencia).

He doesn't want Nico to be "Keke Rosberg's son".

More reasons for Felipe Massa to stay in F1 as long as he wants:

quote:

In the post-race news conference, sitting next to Williams driver Felipe Massa, Hamilton said: "Coming to the last race knowing it was double points. Jeez…"

Hamilton then turned to Massa, who he beat to the 2008 title by one point after passing another car at the last corner of the last lap of the last race of the season, and said: "Did you think it was a good idea? I didn't think it was a good idea."

Massa joked: "I think it was a good idea in 2008."

Also Lotus seems to be the only F1 team that would actually be fun to work for. Ron Dennis would be screaming if the pit crew was laughing at a car burning up.

Lotus seems like kind of a miserable place to work not to mention when all your effort goes towards a car driven by Pastor loving Maldonado.

I'd say quite easily the best place to work at in F1 is Williams.
