tbf that part wouldn't need to go through the blockchain, it's just normal public key crypto

the only way in which bitcoin could be said to be "innovating" in this usecase is that in theory you could have the buyer sending the money and the seller sending ownership in the same transaction, signed by both parties so it doesn't go ahead without both agreeing. but that's totally useless if you happen to live in the real world instead of a beep boop byzantine generals ancap dystopia with no chargebacks

i dunno, last time i bought a car used i had to go to the dmv with my counterparty to sign some poo poo saying the car was mine now

Anyway I think the whole "someone stole my car by stealing my private key" thing is already solved because the cars will own themselves and drive around autonomously earning bitcoins for driving slowly in the fast lane. We won't be able to go in the cars because in the cyberfuture where cyberdrones deliver us cyberfood, we can't go outdoors because of the cybermurderdrones.

honestly, and maybe this is because i got used to waiting literally 24h+ in emergency rooms, i though the process was rather painless

way back when my dad gave me a car and we had to go back and fetch a certain document but that was on us for not checking in advance, even then the total process including 2 round trips took like an hour

if i was buying a used car off craigslist i'd appreciate knowing it's not stolen i guess vOv

when I sold my college car (a used daewoo i got for 5 grand, oddly wasn't that bad of a car) i just got my car title out of my files and just signed it over to him and mailed in the release

let me get my bitcoin-is-better-than translator out

quote:

I had to sell my car, bitcoin would have been so much easier!

So I decided to sell my car. First I had to walk to my desk in the basement (20 steps!) and dig through all my files which took upwards of 20 minutes. Then I had to go back upstairs to find an envelope. After I put the title in the envelope I had to manually print the address on it. I then realized that I didn't have any stamps so I had to go to the post office. I got into my car and realized I had to get gas, so I went to the gas station which added another 10 minutes to this task. After I got to the post office I had to wait in line for 20 minutes before I could buy a single stamp...
