Aww. I was hoping for the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale remakes to come down significantly. BG's $10, which isn't bad at least. But nothing with BG2 or IWD.

e: Wizardry 8's $2.49. That's a great game.

Sengoku is like a bizarre stripped down demo of CK2. It's supposed to be character driven but has a tiny, tiny amount of personal and in fact any events at all, in addition to the setting just not being all that interesting as Paradox did it. Give it a pass, if you really want to play it I believe a goon did a CK2 mod of Sengoku's map and such, but it's probably unplayably out of date now.

RE4. It still holds up as the best game in that genre, even now.

Evil Within is an ok game for a bit, a bad game for a long time, and a good game for only a short while. It's something people should play if they enjoy that style of game, but at $20 if you haven't played RE4 yet? Get RE4!

I've asked this before in the Paradox threads and always been warned away from it. My understanding is that it's Japanese Crusader Kings but without the charm and social engineering that makes it good.

I had an adequate amount of fun with it back on the 360, but it's pretty neglible in the "thing you'll talk about later" world. Go to space stations, get jobs, buy drugs/wheat, go to other space stations, cash in drugs/wheat/jobs, rinse repeat.

Valve, being the masters of UI design, placed the recommendations button in the middle of two separate sets of deals. AFAICT, there's just a second set of dailies.

Though I'm not really clear on why one set are apparently super dailies that last the now-standard 48 hours while the second set only lasts 24.

Stealth: Dishonored
Platformer: Shovel Knight, Brothers Tale of Two Sons, Escape Goat 1+2
Story: Wolf Among Us, Jazzpunk

Consider if Cheap

FPS: Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon,
Adventure: The Fall, Murdered: Soul Suspect, Broken Age, Gray Matter
Action: Ghostbusters The Game,
Platformer: Tiny Barbarian DX, Teslagrad, Battleblock Theater
RPG: The Last Remnant, Shadowrun Returns, Paper Sorcerer, Child of Light

FPS: Deus Ex: The Fall, Hard Reset, Xotic
Adventure: Runaway a Road Adventure, Goodbye Deponia, Cognition, Wallace & Gromit
Action: Red Faction Armageddon,
Stealth: Hitman Absolution
RPG: Penny Arcade Episode Any Of Them
Story: Amnesia a Machine For Pigs

So Bad They're Entertaining

FPS: Magrunner
Adventure: Nikopol
Action: Afterfall Insanity, Deadly Premonition (it's good though)
Wasn't Tomb Raider supposed to be a disappointment on-par with Bioshock:Infinity? On the other hand, based on recent LP's RF:Armageddon and Hard Reset are fairly fun.

Hitman Absolution is most definitely so bad it's hilarious (and it can be a lot of fun intentionally). On the other hand, every single Afterfall review goes "it sounds like it should be fantastic or at least so bad it's fun, but it's just really dull".

What's wrong with Amnesia?

Now that Shadowrun: Dragonfall Director's Edition is available as a stand alone, you can probably skip the original - unless you like Dragonfall so much you want another helping of the same but less polished and interesting.

Deakul posted:

Tomb Raider isn't a disappointment at all, I dunno where you heard that. There were people upset that you don't do a whole lot of tomb raiding, and you don't, but judged as an action shooter it's great. And it'll be cheap too.

RF Armageddon is a good game, you just can't blow up buildings, which apparently pisses everyone off, despite the fact the building destruction was only 1% of the reason why Guerrilla was a good game.

The guns feel good, you can gently caress with the enemy physics easily, there's good enemy variety, the locations you fight in are pretty neat, and they spice up the encounters well with vehicle/turret/crazy poo poo sections.

It's nothing like Guerrilla, but that's fine because Guerrilla barely used it's open world anyway.

I got Amnesia:Pigs in a bundle, and for that price it was a decent way to kill ~4 hours. If you buy it by itself you'll probably not enjoy it.

how come people say hitman absolution is terrible? the only other game i've played in the franchise is hitman blood money on xbox 360 when it came out, which i didn't complete but found enjoyable. i've started playing hitman absolution and i've found it pretty good so far. does the game nosedive in quality at some point??

i'm still at the beginning really, only on the third level (the hotel) but i've been liking how the levels are basically big open sandboxes to goof around in. is it a case of people disliking the game because it's not as good as older entires (which i haven't played except for the xbox one) or are there some big issues that i'm going to run into eventually?

I personally think the GTA III series of games is more fun. GTA IV is a lot slower paced and wants to be grounded in reality. If you're looking for a crime drama, you'd probably like GTA IV, but if you want to just screw around in an open world sandbox blowing poo poo up, you want San Andreas or Saints Row 3 or 4.

EDIT: Actually Sleeping Dogs is a better than GTA IV on every level. Get that instead.
