Argh, the only possible reason you would ever use a log scale there is that you're setting out to make the kind of hyperbolic assertion that they're making. The value of a single good isn't the kind of thing that's ever going to follow a consistent growth rate you goddamn morons. Also, I may be misremembering my econometrics, but doesn't a log-lin regression that doesn't follow a straight line functionally useless?

PARADIGM SHIFTING TECHNOLOGY *gets goxxed*

vOv
Feb 8, 2014

I find this an interesting assertion, as cults are one of my favorite subjects. I study them intensively.

One key feature of cults is that they cultivate an irrational belief in a particular ideology.

In contrast, the blockchain is based on irrefutable concrete mathematics and perfect logic.

Many of the supporters of bitcoin, like myself, are professional software engineers who understand both the mathematics and software underpinning blockchain technology in incredible detail.

We recognize that this is a true breakthrough technology which is as game changing as the invention of the internet itself.

All of this forms the basis of a concrete belief system in an innovative technology, this belief is anything but 'cult' like.

Perhaps you just don't understand what is really going on here.

I think you confuse rational enthusiasm with irrational fanaticism. I get that, to the uneducated, you might confuse the two but, I assure you, there is a cleat difference.

regular ol' masochism and sadism i can understand, but there's no way that you end up beating off to something like "cock vore" or "forced clown transformation" (one hell of an f plus episode) without having been introduced to it by someone else. these weird internet fetishes are such ridiculous, arbitrary concepts - people don't just think that poo poo up on their own, some autist has to combine his random fixation with sex and put it on some avenue where it can be seen and accepted by other weirdos until it gets accelerated into craziness like making GBS threads dicknipples or whatever. there really wasn't an environment for that kind of poo poo until the internet (or at least bbs).

There was actually a time after that started being displayed on yelp that they were trying to get accepts bitcoin on stores that did not accept it so that they would have a bunch of people ask and the place would then look into it and accept it after getting asked so much.

No one ever asked so they just wound up putting accepts bitcoin on a bunch of places that they knew didn't.

Call to Action: Making the most of Yelp - Let's send "Yelp/We Accept Bitcoin" stickers to every Yelp listed business that takes Bitcoin (self.Bitcoin)
submitted 7 months ago * by andreasma

As Yelp has enabled the bitcoin attribute in their listings, many existing businesses will now be using this to indicate their acceptance of bitcoin.

If you've visited a Yelp listed business you may have seen the vinyl stickers in the window/door that say "People Like us on Yelp" with a big red Yelp logo.

I would like to propose that we create a new vinyl sticker with "We Accept Bitcoin" with the bitcoin logo and send these to any business that we find on Yelp taking bitcoin.

EDIT: Many people dont like the idea of combining the Yelp logo, either because they don't like Yelps business practices, or they don't like the idea of using it without authorization. This marketing plan works very nicely if we just send the "We Accept Bitcoin" vinyl sticker with no reference to Yelp. Read it as such from now on...

I'm looking for help to do this:
  • A graphic design that has "We Accept Bitcoin" graphics on a single half-letter page or similar size.
  • An envelope design big enough to fit the sticker without folding and including the Bitcoin logos in place of a return address
  • A printing company that will print color on vinyl static-cling stickers and perhaps takes bitcoin
  • A script to extract the list of companies on Yelp that accept bitcoin
  • A script to extract the address of companies on coinmap and other listing sites that are also on Yelp but not yet listing their bitcoin status
  • Volunteers to help with printing, envelope stuffing, stamp licking and posting

We can use this opportunity to get the bitcoin logo on the door of every Yelp business that takes bitcoin, remind them to check the new option on Yelp and create buzz around Yelp's choice to include bitcoin, driving more businesses to use it.

Who's with me?

"Why you shouldn't rely on middlemen" or "Why Bitcoin is awesome for business." (self.Bitcoin)

submitted 30 minutes ago * by coinsquare_kits

We accept payments through BitPay - which has been really great so far - nothing against them.

However we reached a transaction limit today because of a surge of sales on Black Friday. We tried to raise the limit but it can take a few days. Orders were bouncing and we couldn't process orders! What a disaster....

....or was it?

Because of Bitcoin, customers could bypass BitPay and send us funds directly. We were up and running in no time - and no cut going to any middlemen.

Bitcoin saved us today. We think it will save a lot of businesses in the future.

Thanks for reading everyone!
