It's always funny to me how they use the word "compromise" to mean "do things exactly my way"

idgi the sorts of people who hate systemd are the same sort of beardlords who run xmonad and poo poo like that, god knows THAT isn't going to depend on the systemd os abstraction apis or even that newfangled d-bus thing any time soon, so why don't they just keep running sysvinit on Debian like they were promised they could continue to do anyway? why not help maintain the sysvinit packages like they're presumably goin to do in Deveno or whatever it's called? and continue to contribute init scripts for the packages they use in addition to the unit files those packages might have too

"linux is about choice!" *forks Debian and erases unit files and other systemd stuff they don't even use from various packages purely out of spite*

i do have to wonder how these people manage to computer in 2014 with this sort of system setup though

like ok they're Server Administrators and stuff but surely they have computers that leave their desks from time to time?

*visits a friend irl*
"hey bob what's your wifi password"
"it's idonthavecomputeropinions1973"
*cold-boots laptop because the power management doesn't work. it boots slowly due to lovely ancient init*
*logs in, xinits then drops to an xterm, opens /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf in vi*
*furiously types out a new config stanza, manually scanning and reconfiguring the network interface*
*does all this poo poo as root*

"uuh hey Erik you doing ok there dude?"
"I'M FINE SHUT UP"
"maybe you should get a Mac or som-"
"SHUT THE gently caress UP BOB!!!" *greps for iw regulatory domain errors in kernel log while fighting back tears of shame*
