The dog I posted earlier does something similar. He rubs his sides on the couch like a cat does on your leg when it wants a back scratch, except really fast. He'll stop suddenly, sit down, and look at me like "wtf you lookin' at, chump?" then go right back to it for another cycle or two of that. Afterwards he'll grab a toy and run around the apartment like a madman

 My brother's dog, Ladybug. She can totally hop over that if she wants, and has done so on several occasions, but she mostly just perches there and barks at neighborhood kids.

Gf signed up for fostering. Apparently they give you everything you need too. Totally down because I can't completely commit anytime soon. But gently caress how do you let the thing go after you bond?

Someone I know who fosters has someone, a friend or relative who isn't attached, come over and give the pup to the permanent owner while he is at work. Or he will run an errand at pickup time. I was a terrible foster who adopted her dog, but prior to that, I found it varies. Some dogs you get really attached to, some drive you crazy. You just learn to realize the dog is probably going to a better home and a better family. And if you work with a great organization that doesn't just hand out dogs to whoever, this is probably true.
