My favourites would be: RTJ2, Piñata, IVRY and Amerigo Gazaway- Yasiin Gaye if we're allowed mashups (mos def/Marvin Gaye and it's amazing).

Chuck Flylo in to flesh it out to 5. I think his project is pretty overrated though.

I'm not going to post a top 5 or compare it to any one else's cause no one is going to even remotely agree with it, but I'm with you 100% on the final sentiment.

This is why you should post a list! The reason I love end of the year top 10s here is because I end up finding a lot of stuff I would've otherwise missed when I was caught up with other poo poo, or just wasn't on my radar at all.

Since I brought it up I should probably post a list but I still have a ton of albums I want to listen to again/mixtapes to check out. Right now my top 4 is
1. My Krazy Life - basically the album everyone wanted from YG/DJ Mustard. Nothing game changing but exactly what it was supposed to be even if there are a couple clunkers
2. Unknown Memory - Great followup album from Yung Lean, his sound is really cohesive, the production is great and the rapping is catchy/good enough
3. RTJ2
4. No Label 2 - Migos

Top:
1) RTJ2: loved the first one, had very high hopes for this and was not disappointed. (Almost) not a single wasted second, as the good doctor said. The only thing I'd consider skipping is Zach De La Rocha's verse.
2) Rich Gang: The Tour, Part 1: Thugger & RHQ make for a great team and even Birdman puts in 3 solid verses. I wouldn't miss half the tracks, but the other half is amazing.
3) BADBADNOTGOOD - III: liked the first two, feel that this is even better.

Honorable mentions:
Girl Talk & Freeway - Broken Ankles EP: feels like a shorter & not-quite-as-great RTJ. Still really dope and way underrated though.
Isaiah Rashad - Cilvia Demo: very consistent but not a lot of standouts imo.
Future - Honest: Great album, slightly too many tracks though.
Gucci Mane - Trap God 3: the most consistent of his stuff from this year, basically no skips but it's also all pretty much the same. You already know if you'd like this.
Lil B - Hoop Life: he didn't release a lot of stuff this year but this one has a bunch of good dumb tracks (if you like Lil B)
Migos - No Label 2: three amazing tracks and I haven't bothered to listen to the rest much.
Gucci Mane, Young Dolph & PeeWee Longway - Felix Brothers: some really good tracks and a bunch of filler
A$AP Ferg - Ferg Forever: wasn't expecting this much variety from Ferg.

Some stuff I've not listened to (enough) yet to judge fairly:
Gibbs & Madlib - Pinata, Future - Monster, SD - Truly Blessed, Ghostface Killah - 36 Seasons

Top tracks, by playcount:
1) YG – My Nigga (feat. Lil Wayne, Rich Homie Quan, Meek Mill & Nicki Minaj) [Remix] (the RHQ & Wayne chorus is especially amazing which is why I probably really like the Rich Gang tape)
2) Isaiah Rashad – Shot You Down (feat. Jay Rock & Schoolboy Q) [Remix]
3) Migos - Fight Night
4) Future – Special (feat. Young Scooter)
5) Gucci Mane & Young Thug – Bricks
6) Felix Brothers - Still Beating
7) Mr. Jazzy Bubblez - Hippie Women 2 (this is a beat by a local producer, check it out if you like stuff in the style of what Curren$y might be found rapping over)
8) Quavo - Take My Life
9) Future – Move That Dope (Feat. Pharrell, Pusha T & Casino)
10) Rich Gang - Flava

And I don't think that every year is a bad, the last two years everyone was saying how great they were and they truly were. 2014 had long stretches where it felt like nothing good was coming out. Weird year and a quiet year. Was there a single highly regarded album released by a big name artist?

Bhris Brown's X is really good too but I don't want to edit order. Probably would go where RTJ2 is

It's so damn...literal.

In my defense, I actually do listen to a lot of hip hop. It's pretty much the only radio station that's ever playing in our car, because as far as terrestrial radio goes, the most interesting and innovative things are happening in the hip hop scene.

On a side note, it drives me nuts that on a radio station curated for black people, that they censor words like "nigga" because some old white woman who's never going to listen to that station in the first place might be offended.

He's got some random songs (iirc one with Danny Brown that was on some other album), and his first album was one of the best of last year. If you like Body High you'll dig Alternative Trap.

That's all he's got to my knowledge, dude's only like 16 or 17.
