So is there a sci-fi libertarian story where people have small bombs inserted into their brains so that they get blown-up if they ever break a contract? Because, holy poo poo, these people and their loving all-mighty contracts are dumb as gently caress.

also lol "people will do what profits them the most" you know what's really profitable?? stealing poo poo and not getting caught

humans aren't AI designed to process market data and pursue a bottom line also not pursuing immediate profit is frequently a good business decision in many contexts these people are a blight

I've said it before in these threads but the libertarian man child dream can only exist in virtual contexts where death pain slavery addiction etc can't exist also people can only make informed decisions with good information it is frequently a profitable decision to limit speech and information through force, legal trickery or otherwise

Greyhawk posted:ah yes that horrible place to live in called switzerland I've lived in Switzerland, and it is actually kind of a shithole surrounded by pretty nice countries. Racism is extremely prevalent there, especially against blacks and muslims) The cost of living is extremely high, with Bern, Geneva, and Zurich all in the top 5 of most expensive cities in the world It has some of the worst climate in that part of Europe, a long and wet winter surrounded by mountains that make the days even shorter than usual It's basically a military state; mandatory military service, periodic military retraining, and even the guy who checks your bus ticket carries a huge assault rifle A lot of people get it confused with Sweden, which by all accounts is a pretty awesome country. I'd much rather live in Somalia, where I can live in libertopia and be truly free (from my possessions)

Secure - be your own bank! Non-consumable - isn't bitcoin totally consumable in that you can destroy it a lot more easily than you can gold? And if bitcoin is programmable, then doesn't that mean it's not fungible?

what happens to all those bitcoin dust tips people made if the price keeps going down is it eventually going to be where someone has eleven billion individual motes of bitcoin trying to buy one fleshlight and bitpay is like "gently caress you I'm processing eleven billion quintillionths of a penny transactions on a fifteen cent commission get the gently caress outta here with your internet equivalent of a dumptruck of pennies". I mean they say bitcoin is fungible but it's not. Some coins are tainted as carrying stolen tags, and if someone offers you one bitcoin shiny and new, and another offers you a bitcoin in eleven thousand chunks the one is going to be infinitely more attractive than the one in pieces, as is my understanding.
