it's very easy to overcome road noise anyway plus what are you listening to anyway classical music? I feel sorry for people who don't try to maximise their time having thumping bass in they cars

echinopsis posted:it's very easy to overcome road noise anyway plus what are you listening to anyway classical music? yeah this. like i dont expect super low level accuracy but starting with better sounding components will still yield a better result. also there's always acoustic absorbing material you can install ive never understood the mentality that suboptimal listening conditions completely cancel the benefits of nicer gear. they dont even if they mask quite a bit

Depends, do you move your head significant fractions of wavelengths in your car? You probably do Your destructive interference is pretty likely to be constructive

so after getting v frustrated at not being able to find the knobs to put the stand etc on the bench grinder and hunting down some bolts that'd work, knife-making continues and holy moley after spending like 4-5hrs chopping off a rough outline using a hacksaw smoothing it out with the bench grinder is loving magic

As someone who used to do this stupid poo poo in highschool and compete in DBDrags. . . i will state, i'd rather have the road noise. Every few moons though, i get the urge to go get my fiberglass shaping tools and masks and poo poo from my parents house, and head to the stereo shop I used to work at and just be like "i need 20 12" subwoofers, and 10 of those thousand watt amps"

It would do subsonic really well, which scared people, when you can sit side by side talking in a normal voice but the bass is shaking your hair, and pushing your lungs in.

echinopsis posted:did you do it to enjoy music? i was more into it at that point for the dbcomps, but I also did SQ comps in that vehicle. it actually had 5.1 sound and a dolby decoder for an optional dvd player. 27 total speakers in the guy, all high end kicker components backed by 6 xs1200 amps (if you look at the top you'll see vents, the amps are in the ceiling). 5 optima yellowtops, 2 300amp alternators, 305 smallblock chevy shoehorned into the bitch. It did have remote gain on the amps for the subs, so I could crank them down for SQ, and crank up for DB

I'm trying to think of a way to make a 'touch' enabled ping pong table. maybe a kinect? put it over the table and have certain areas be triggers for input, so you'd hold your hand out over a corner and it'd trigger whatever ui element was there I dunno if you can use a kinect like that, though.
