coinbase seems to be doing alright connecting the people who want to accept dollars for products to the people who want to pay dollars to be told that they are trading bitcoins for products while nothing of the sort is actually happening. that's a viable (if unscrupulous) service but its success doesn't boost bitcoin, it just shows that bitcoiners are dumb as hell bitpay on the other hand takes in nothing but bitcoins and emits nothing but dollars so either they have the monetary equivalent of the philosopher's stone or it's unsustainable for one reason or another (VC funding runs out, bitcoin market crashes, everyone involved is arrested for financial crimes)
