Sure enough, the client said all is good and VPN'd up the rear end, but everything was going out as plaintext. An external IP lookup confirmed this. You had one loving job. I guess it's perfect for bitcoin.

also yes bitcoin was 100% designed for speculation from day one because it is in perpetual deflation thanks to the limit to the currency supply. it might not have been intentional due to Idiots Who Don't Know A Thing but they love to call it a currency and then did absolutely everything in their power to ensure that it will never be one

considering Bitcoin started out at a worth of zero USD per coin, if you are honest instead of cherry picking time windows like the past year, Bitcoin promises an infinite roi. you might not like libertarianism or cryptography, but imagine how many baubles you could buy with infinite money.

bitcoin likes to pose as different entities to dodge criticism. high volatility makes people say it's a dumb currency? well, it's actually a speculative investment destined to reach the moon. it's been going down at a freefall with no real signs of recovery for months? well, you were never supposed to get rich from it. it's a currency meant to serve as a unit of account. we should regulate Bitcoin like money or an investment based on your pitch? no, Bitcoin is actually a novelty collectable of no interest to the government like baseball cards. nothing to see here officer. bitcoin seems designed for money laundering and thus could enable terrorism, organized crime and child pornography? no, all transactions are public. so Bitcoin means legitimate users would have no privacy? no, Bitcoin is anonymous. it's called a cryptocurrency because of its similarity to the freakish cryptozoological chimera.
