Human Grand Prix posted:Mitsubishi is very Asia/Europe focused, they have never been popular in the Americas. Canada didn't even get them (technically) until 2003. FYI Honda is very popular in Canada, the Civic has been the best selling car for the last 5000 years. It's the same in Australia - civics and corollas

Actually the correct procedure now that Toyota have joined the thread should be for them to spend ridiculous amounts of money trying to catch up with everything we've said, attempting to replicate it in a worst thread of their own, and eventually for them to realise they'll never get it right and have blown a fortune trying and then gently caress off.

Someone needs to go stick the wrong/outdated driver flags on the Footwork Arrows results list in order to cause drama on the talk page about whether anyone of them will change their citizenship before they die

True but their UK market share is about 2%. (Suzuki is about 1.5% fwiw). That's lower than Kia, Skoda, Hyundai, Mini, Peugeot, Fiat, Citroen, Nissan, Renault, SEAT...

I wonder if Honda's market share would still be that low if they continued to badge engineer with Rover, instead of Rover going to BMW in the early 90s

I was just saying to my wife yesterday, ' I still like Honda I just wish they made more interesting cars at the moment'. I used to have a Type R but I'm too old for another and there isn't really a decent Accord when you compare them to other brand's offerings. If they still made the S2K I'd be throwing cash at them.

We've had a Civic Aerodeck and an Accord Estate. Both brilliant cars. We've got a Nissan Note at the moment (due to children and a dog) but I'd go back to Honda in an instant. Different companies, Hyundai bought into Kia. Just like VW bought audi, skoda, lamborghini and bugatti. Just like fiat bought into ferrari. Yeah it's more a "Brand" share than a "Manufacturer" share. Needless to say, VW themselves are well, well ahead.

Opel and vauxhall are the GM of Europe, and they are poo poo. VW are cheap everyday cars in Europe, and overpriced everywhere outside of Europe, so they are also poo poo. Its not hard to see the VW empire falling apart GM style in a 10-20 years. They've got good brand equity in a lot of their brands but platform sharing will slowly erode that.

Mitsubishi motors is just the small poor pet project side of one of Japan's biggest mega-companies, it's only a question of how long the main company wants to keep them afloat. I think it's still a manner of pride for them too, they don't want to shutter something even if it's below par. I just wish they would make interesting cars and trucks again. Same goes for Honda. But at least the Fit is selling like gangbusters.

Like honda and rover, shame mitsubishi got in bed with chysler. Here in Aus, Mits started out by taking over old Chrysler plants, and inherited their stuff. Currently in our market they have the colt (not like the old one we all know and hate, but a honda jazz style car), lancer (not the old one, the upsized one that used to be the galant), vans/minivans, ute (triton), and 4x4 (pajero), used to have a medium/large family car (magna/380 - - ie camry type car), but that died. But I've never liked mits anyway... Some galants and evos were cool, but they seem never be quite as good as the competition in everything they did. Half arsed or not just 'there' so didn't pick up many fans compared to the rest. Not really sure why, it could be the chrysler connection as I said, could be they keep their old names about and brings a bad taste. Time for new names Mits! Here in Aus the old chrylser/mits sigma is one of the last cheap light 1980s RWD mobiles still somewhat available. People are eating that poo poo up and doing all sorts of v8 or other engine transplants into them for sleepers/fast drag cars. e: Of course they are only going for sigmas because all the toyotas, datsuns, mazdas, escorts, cortinas are now $15k+ cars and there's nothing left RWD as far as small/medium light cars. E: Some of the reasons why I hate them, severely dated in every way. I can't believe how long they kept around the death trap l300 van, also that van and lancers/mirages in the mid 1990s still running carbs instead of EFI.
