NCIS came back from break (after the prebreak episode being about McGee's dad dying), with one of Gibbs' ex-wives getting sniped in the face. I got to say its gotten grimmer over the years as a background show and no character has really left the show alive except Cote de Pablo.

USA has not so covertly canceled Covert Affairs and unlike other recently ended USA shows it is not getting a final season so the recently aired finale (which apparently ended on a cliffhanger) is it for the show. Not really a big surprise as the show got terrible ratings and USA has a ton of new content coming up.

Covert Affairs had pretty strong writing the last couple seasons so that's disappointing. Rush was apparently also cancelled a while back without much fanfare. USA's new shows all seem to be a bit terrible (Dig looks godawful, sorry Jason Issacs).

Sci-fi shows everyone speaks english because it's tv and nobody wants to read fuckin' subtitles of some made up bullshit language outside of a few weirdos who taught themselves klingon or tolkien's finnish/elvish or whatever. They could technically say the word gently caress, or air hardcore gay scat horse porn, as far as the law has any control over cable, but instead they make silly fake swear words, which has gone on forever, so why is this even a discussion?

Covert Affairs really turned into a great spy story over the last couple of seasons. While it was something of a cliffhanger, it at least left most of the characters in an "ending" kind of place.

The first book (How Few Remain) would be an interesting miniseries or telemovie, but beyond that, I think the series is pretty lazily written; by the end of it, it felt like he'd copied and pasted a Second World War history book and done a Search and Replace for "Nazi Germany" with "the Confederates", "Adolf Hitler" with "Jake Featherston", and "the USSR" with "the United States of America". Speaking of which, did you know that Sam Carsten needs to slather himself constantly with sunscreen because he burns easily? He needs to do because he has such fair skin and burns easily. Churchill has the gift of the gab and a character will comment on it every single time his name is mentioned. Also, Sam Carsten burns easily, so he needs to wear lots of sunscreen, and his internal monologue will mention this fact in every chapter where he's viewpoint character.

There was also a major problem with the sound editing (not my department) and ALL the dialogue is hard to hear.

It does sound unreasonable, but these cable companies are evil and ultimately on their deathbeds as content providers. Just pay it and shut up.
