Why no early bird discount for China GP? It's later than Malaysia. Oh well, general admission tickets for 67 USD isn't that bad anyway, just wish the track and crowd would be better.

OK, that is true too, I'll admit to a second minor flaw in his otherwise above-reproach commentary. I think they make a big deal about the "penultimate lap" every race as well, but crucially, that's not exclusively his fault.

What the gently caress? I'd figure they'd be at least half that for Formula E. What a rip.

I watched this race again a while ago thinking maybe the pain would be gone, but no it still stung...badly. Because it was so so crazy they didn't bring him in much earlier than they did. He was losing time hand over fist laps before this happened and then around 2 laps before this, you could see the tire carcass and yet the absolute idiots at McLaren told him to stay out....probably because of what some computer said. There has never been a better illustration of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory as the clusterfuck that is McLaren pitwall that year.

So the FIA released the new requirements in order to get a superlicense. I actually quite like it and it should as a nice boost to a bunch of neglected feeder series.

And the chart for the license points:

I like that you could win 3 consecutive FIA World Championships in an open wheel series where half the grid are ex-F1 drivers and earn 0 points since they completely blanked Formula E.

Formula E experience should count for something for aspiring drivers, like when high school students do volunteer work at a retirement home.

And will they use 3 cars a race instead of 2? They could get rid of the treaded road tyres i guess. Other than that the only way i can see formula e getting faster with current technology is to reinvent the laws of physics.

GP2 and GP3 are the de facto "minor leagues" of F1 these days. They run almost exclusively on the same weekends as F1. GP2 is (as you might guess) above GP3.

Lewis and Nico both reached F1 after winning GP2. Valteri and Danil Kyvat both skipped there from GP3.

F2 and F3 are essentially the same thing but run by the FIA whereas GPx is Bernie led.

F2 no longer exists due to lack of interest. F3 runs as a european and several national series, the cars are effectively a level below GP3.

So FIA basically made the bold decision that a series that no longer exists because nobody cares is better experience for F1 candidates than Formula E?

Even if Formula E is slow compared to F1, their specs are absolutely comparable to the Formula 3 cars.

They're bringing it back. It's Domenicali's main focus in his new role as the FIA's President of the Single Seater Commission.
