Everyone thinks this about themselves. It's just taste. Some stuff does it for some people. Some doesn't.

Yes.

This is true. I mostly listen to metal and the various metal sub-genres but some other stuff I can appreciate. Hozier's album is really loving good, for example

This Hozier dude has a pretty good voice.

Also, yes. I am definitely a metal fan, but I find myself gravitating towards vest/stoner poo poo and lots of drone (the SunnO))) av should tip you off there) lately. There are just a lot of paths people can take.

Real talk: the actual music part of the Mountain Goats is definitely a matter of taste. It's very much an indie rock sound, though Darnielle is willing to experiment with variations on different albums. He's also not the best singer around, though he does have a lot of character and passion.

Where the Mountain Goats really shine, though, is in the lyrics. The combination of rich character studies with evocative imagery and figurative language create a sort of literary lyricism that isn't found in the works of most. If you're into that sort of thing, it's really hard to beat. And if you like that sort of thing, but don't like that sort of thing in your music, Darnielle has written a book that very much embodies that voice, and that I recommend checking out.

Mafia talk: Clockwork Gadget's idea is a bad one. My song is highly linked to my role, and I think all of us revealing our songs might lead to some role fishing. I've not played any games with him or her before, so I don't know the meta. Is Clockwork particularly new to Mafia or does he or she have some games under the belt?

Man I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that about Cake. My girlfriend loves Cake, it's loving dire

Also revealing song titles/flavor is a bad idea, don't do it.

The rules say flavor arguments are "not a good idea," sooooo.

Is your song Ezekiel 7 and your role "put someone in a trunk after torturing them all day?"

(I am never above a bad idea.)

Flavor arguments won't actually help much in this game, I mean we are songs. Clockwork's post was saying we should kill the people who have the sucky songs.

its just for sure the alpha couple is somehow involve in the roles here, it would be too much of a miss opportunity not to make a role based around them

To be fair, endless flavor arguments, while a personal favorite of mine, do tend to be recursive, and such are not a good idea for long term strategy.

Real talk, I like songs with emotion in them. Where is sounds like the singer actually gives a poo poo about what they are singing.

Musicals have this because their songs are almost always about ~feelings~ and I'm okay with people singing their feelings.

Nothing will kill a song faster for me than when the singer is completely lifeless and without energy. They don't have to be upbeat, but put a little effort into it.

Some of that song was okay, but most of it felt like the music was driving her rather than her driving the music. She was just a slave to the beat and I wish she showed some more control over the song. Obviously it was a stylistic choice, but not one that I enjoy.

I just skipped around in this, but there seemed to be lot of talking over music and sounds, which I definitely do not like. If you can point me to a specific part though, maybe I just happened on bad sample parts.

That is just how the guy sings. The second track Young Shields is pretty much the definition of a singer singing his feelings though. Like there is a lot of energy here, but its not the way you expect from a singer.
