I live. I die. I live again.
Month two of the book club! It seems like most of us finished Lords of the Realm, hooray us. This time around we'll be looking for something shorter to read. ;)

This thread exists to:
1. Determine what book we should pretend to read in the next month or so.
2. Discuss the book in question, bring up any questions, etc.

I'd like to have the book selected by Friday, and be fake democratic. We can have an open call for suggestions or I can use the remaining titles from our last poll or we can do both I guess.

This is "for January" but it's already January so I think it's more like until mid-February and the next will be mid-February to mid-March and then we'll see where we are with baseball around the corner

I was a horrible failure at life thanks to grad school and did not read last month. I will be a better person this month, G-d willing.

I have already read A Well Paid Slave and You Gotta Have Wa. My personal prefs would be Veeck as in Wreck or Baseball in the Garden of Eden.

I'm not sure who's read Up, Up and Away but I thought it was an easy and mostly enjoyable book to speed through and it's worth reading the final few chapters, if nothing else, to catch up on what happened with Loria, Selig and MLB since there is now a push to bring baseball back to Montreal. The prose, if that's what you'd call it, is an improvement over The Other 2%, for those who have read Keri's first book or are familiar with his other writing. I haven't quite finished Lords of the Realm because I was finishing this book and some [gasp!] non-baseball stuff.

I'll be posting the survey tonight, just the remaining books from our last poll if nobody has any new requests.

Drink it up and hunker down
The only one of those I've read is Dollar Sign on the Muscle, so I'd be in for anything else.

I bought this book and had it signed by Keri last year when they had the exhibition series at Olympic Stadium, but kind of forgot about it on the bookshelf. This would give me a good reason to finally get around to reading it.
