I would like to remind everybody that, if the exchanges actually used the currency of the future for their trades, they wouldn't be able to handle the current traffic.

Remember: It's in Bitstamp's best interest for the price to crash right now. They need to purchase ~19000 BTC if they want to pass solvency in the future. (self.Bitcoin) NilacTheGrim 1 очко 2 minutes ago I thought about this too. Absent regulation, it's entirely possible they are manipulating the price down, and we'd be none the wiser. We'd just chalk it up to the crazy market. It's similar to how GOX's WillyBot artificially pumped the price. In the case of Gox, they knew they could never ever make back the BTC they lost, so they opted to cash out in fiat with the little BTC they did have, so they pumped the price as high as possible. Bitstamp on the other hand is doing the opposite because they want to buy back the BTC they lost to meet customer obligations (I guess this means they are solvent, for the most part). It crossed my mind and would explain a helluva lot.

wow, the people at r/bitcoinmarkets are even more delusional that the r/bitcoiners. Goddamn, apparently this is all good news because, heck, they are all so smart that they surely shorted the market. Posted 12 hours ago: quote:Many investors were hit hard as the price of Bitcoin dropped to $226.23 earlier today. So, as we anticipated yesterday, the downtrend is continuing, as we concluded through yesterday’s down sloping Advance/Decline line. quote:I am not sure that I can take another day of yet another -46% loss. trucutru fucked around with this message at 09:13 on Jan 14, 2015 |

I just want bitcoin to plummet to sub-$100 levels so that all of those big warehouses full of ASICs have to shut down. Back when it was just a bunch of libertarians circle-jerking with CPU mining it was just a dopey thing to laugh at, but dumping fuckloads of CO2 into the atmosphere for what amounts to a giant ponzi scheme is just awful

[–]Anti-Troll_Revision 12 points 6 hours ago* quote:Or it can go the same way as other coins with mining bubbles which is collapse. You have no idea and neither do I. But its happened before with other coins under similar circumstances so you shouldnt ignore the possibility. code:
The truth is, I have an unhealthy obsession. Being obsessed over anything is unhealthy. But my obsession isn't constructive. I spend the vast majority of my day talking about Bitcoin. It's in no way productive (although sometimes I delude myself into believing I'm shining truth in the faces of delusional Bitcoiners). I'm destructive. I speak negatively for hours on end about one single subject. I work tirelessly as a contrarian in hopes of gaining any minimal amount of attention. I could have chosen sports, science, or politics. But I chose Bitcoin. There's a poster of Christopher Nolan's Joker above my bed because ever since seeing that movie, I've believed that his random and chaotic nature is cool. No one can track him. No one can peg him as anything. He's chaos. I desperately want to be that thing. But I'm not. I'm a shell of it. I'm a clone of an idea. My attempts to uncategorized myself stuff me into an easily labeled box. So I sit, day in and day out, for what is easily an unhealthy amount of time, criticizing a single subject. I don't expand on my points. I don't give too much information otherwise others are prone to real debate. I want my mark on the world to hurt, and I do it to give myself meaning because I'm unable to make a mark in a meaningful way.
