Alex McKinnon, who suffered a pretty horrific neck injury that has put him in a wheelchair since has apparently managed to stand up without aid, which I guess is pretty great news for his friends, family and team-mates. He will also be involved in the Newcastle Knights office, working in recruitment.

That's seriously awesome news. A way better way to start the year than dog loving, missus glassing, mouth pissing or loading up on performance enhancing drugs.

Former NRL star Matt Seers charged with supplying cocaine on Gold Coast

EX-NRL player Matt Seers has been arrested and charged with supplying cocaine on the Gold Coast.

Seers, who played fullback for the North Sydney Bears and Wests Tigers during the 1990s and early 2000s, has been granted bail and will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on February 10.

Queensland police said a 40-year-old male from Chinderah had been arrested and charged with “15 counts of supplying a dangerous drug and one count of trafficking a dangerous drug”.

The Seers arrest is part of a joint investigation between Queensland police, the Crime and Corruption Commission and NSW police.

The development comes one week after retired Queensland and Australian legend Jason Smith was arrested and charged with allegedly trafficking 280 grams of cocaine between June and December last year.

Seers was selected on the NSW State of Origin reserves bench during Super League war on four occasions.

Seers is the cousin of ex-NRL player Craig Field, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of the manslaughter of NSW north-coast farmer Kelvin Kane last December.

Don't they have dog fighters, wife bashers, steroid users and the like? I'd read when Suge Knight dangled Vanilla Ice off a hotel balcony to get him to sign a contract he brought a couple of NFL players with him for extra muscle. Sounds pretty exciting to me.

It's getting disturbing how many Tigers players from the early 2000s are drug traffickers. Sure explains their performances.

As nice as it would be to dream, I don't think Penrith are going to go as well as they did last year. They kind of just snuck up on everybody, but given they finished 4th, and got into the Preliminary Final you'd assume people would start taking them seriously.

Found this on youtube, and if a list of Grubs/Wankers and Cunts gets added to the OP this should be linked immediately under it.

On a slightly more interesting note, apparently there has been ~*!~DRAMA~*!~ at 2GB. Andrew Moore has left the Continuous Call and is allegedly joining the ABC call team. Assuming it's true, it's a pretty good replacement for David Morrow. Will probably bounce between Grandstand and MMM if that's the case.

Also has driven a wedge between the parrot and Ray Hadley which can only be a good thing. Be interested to see how it pans out, but I reckon one of them won't survive the year.

Considering how close both of them sound to having a stroke when they're being apoplectic I'm hoping you aren't referring to them leaving the station but something more permanent. No losers in that scenario.

We're all losers in that scenario. Even if Ray "Fuckwit" Hadley pops his clogs tonight it won't be soon enough. The only way to win would be to have never heard of the wife bashing scumfuck.

True, but I'm looking on the bright side. They both have to gently caress off and die someone and presumably it'll be in my lifetime so there's at least one good day to look forward to.

Did RL players used to wear shoulderpads, but largely stop doing so at some point? Can anyone tell me when/why that stopped? Was there a significant change in the rules and/or playing style that made it happen?

Wigan's best winger in ages, Joe Burgess, is moving to the Sydney Roosters at the end of this coming season. He's the latest product of a RFL genetics program to produce a race of rugby-playing supermen all called Burgess. He's only 20 and pretty talented so definitely one to watch.

Here's the best video I could find of a couple of his tries last year:
