Nobody knows whether Silver was blocking mma as a favor to NY unions acting in solidarity with NV Culinary, or as a favor to his buddy Bob Reilly, or because he's honestly a dink about mma, or any other reason. Also nobody really knows who's going to wind up speaker if he gets forced out (or even if he does get forced out, although that's looking more and more likely) so there's no guarantee that anyone taking his place wouldn't be just as hostile to mma in NY, and the governor doesn't want it to be an issue he can be pinned down on. Silver getting hosed certainly isn't /bad/ news for mma in NY, but there's still a lot of steps in between that and Gourd of Taste making chapeau au poivre.
