I love this mostly because of how crazy loud it is. Its also shot really well and does a great job of showing off the heist from beginning to end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEFPcljAXgs Keeping in tune with Michael Mann. I love just how short and violent this one is. Tom Cruise is just efficient in taking out the two robbers. Again its really loud which I guess is just how Michael Mann does his gun scenes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upwyWKzozII This time its a good old fashioned fist fight. I think this fight is choreographed really well and shows a lot of slick countering from Donnie Yen and also some straight up brutal looking shots he puts on dudes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_H-3NKj8yO8 Another Donnie Yen fight scene. This one from Kill Zone(I think.) This one is just insanely fast from start to finish. You can barely follow the movement sometimes and its really fun to watch. I had read somewhere that most of this fight wasn't really planned out and they just kinda did it on the fly. Very fast paced. Shot incredibly well. Super brutal looking. It has everything you would ever want in a fight scene.

John Wick. The whole drat film. There's the hallway scene in Old Boy. That's way up there and for me, it's the music that really makes it. The slow heart-beat tempo mournfully thumping away as Dae-Su beats his way across the screen is wonderful. If I had any kind of inclination, like the old "Ruin the scene" threads in GBS, I'd love to re-dub the whole thing to make it a more "traditional" scene. Maybe have Down With The Sickness playing over it. In Only God Forgives there's a showdown between Julian and Chang. Now, the thing is I see Only God Forgives as a kind of backlash from Refn for how everyone went nuts over Gosling in Drive. He sat there and went, "Well, if you want Ryan Gosling being a badass in a neon hell let's see how you like this! And he cranks up the Driver's silent, violent side to 11 and sets him loose. Everyone expects this brutal, climactic showdown and then... Chang just beats seven shades of poo poo out of Gosling with zero effort. Gosling doesn't even land a punch and is tore apart. It's hard to single out a best action scene from a Kurosawa film but if I had to I'd say the end of Seven Samurai. There's something so perfect about it since it feels so genuine the entire way through. It's just the remaining samurai and villagers versus the bandits while it's raining out. And my god does it feel like it's raining the entire time since everyone is sliding around, it's muddy and just unbelievable how hard hitting it all is.Basebf555 posted:The final duel in The Good the Bad and the Ugly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6tR78d0cmA Going back to Kurosawa again the end of Sanjuro had a standoff where the camera just watches two samurai for about a minute and a half before one of them draws and the tension is so loving thick you could cut it with a knife. I've always had a thing for movies building up tension for an incredible amount of time before absolutely shattering it.

Amusingly the spray from that was so strong that the hose nearly blew Tatsuya Nakadai off of his feet.

My favorite action sequence will always be the massacre at the police station in The Terminator: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFxaCa-hr8o Schwarzenegger's just so menacing, walking slowly down the hallways, no cover or anything, just calmly and deliberately blowing away any cop in his way. And then the way his cool, robotic manner is contrasted with the cops absolutely losing their poo poo in the background. Schwarzenegger and Cameron both absolutely nailed this scene.
